Russia Vs Ukraine (Part 1)

All this has happened before and will happen again

He should be doing it on a more public forum where it might help change things.

Putin doesn’t want to flatten Kyiv because to him it is the jewel in his fantastical Russian crown. But he won’t mind flattening what he has to which are the heavily populated suburbs full of tower blocks.

The truth is the only way Kyiv can be Russian is to exterminate/remove the population. Tanks can’t go into heavily populated residential areas, especially ones filled with 8-12 storey tower blocks. On Friday night the Russians tried to send tanks down Peremohy Avenue, a major route into Kyiv from the west. It has a wall of tower blocks running down it which makes tanks sitting ducks.

A lot of the convoy will be logistics. But how much of it will be thermobaric weapons and other heavy artillery which kill masses of civilians and force the rest to flee.

Or does he plan to starve the city into submission in a siege like the Germans tried to do to Leningrad.

This will bring NATO in.

Oh Jesus what a juicy target for an air strike

The western lads have suffered heavy losses

@tank, he’s definitely still a warmonger.

I had a flick through that to annoy myself and came across a “discussion” called “CrossTalk with Peter Lavelle”, clearly an imitation of the BBC News Channel’s “Hard Talk” in terms of its branding.

Mr. Lavelle, who, is an American, says “I’m not a conspiracy theorist and I never allow conspiracy theorists on my programme”.

One of his guests was another American guy called Patrick Henningsen, who speaks in well practised Walter Cronkite style tones - in fact all three people in the discussion did. Here are some of Mr. Henningsen’s views:

Mr Henningsen has also suggested on Twitter that the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting massacre in which 20 children were killed was a “hoax”, that there is “absolute proof” that “NO PLANE” hit the Pentagon in the 9/11 terror attacks, and that some of the photos of the moon landings may have been taken elsewhere.

Mr. Henningsen is obviously a denier that Bashar Al-Assad gassed his own people, because of course he would be, this is RT.

The other contributor was George Szamuely, who seems to be a big fan of Serbia and Slobodan Milosevic who seems to think no genocide was ever perpetrated by the Serbs in the Balkan Wars.

Prominent in the “discussion” was the need for “de-Nazification” in Ukraine. From the small bit I looked at, the programme reminded me a Day Today sketch mixed in with a bit of Brass Eye. I didn’t bother hanging around to hear the lads tell us about how Ukraine was full of Nazis and how they would be gotten rid of.

At this stage if you’re not pro-NATO you definitely are a warmonger. The evidence of the last week is fairly conclusive on that.

You genuinely thought Vladimir Putin was negotiating in good faith.

You were very naive, to say the least.

Once somrone comes out with a sandy hook was a hoax you know its time do just stop

Read the lyrics I see such parallels

I never suggested that, you’re making things up again.

Ah I dont know if I’d go along with him but he’d obviously have his point. There should be an aerial bombardment of the convoy. The way it’s all lined up, if you attacked the front and back of it the rest would be probably be stuck for a few days. So either europe gives the Ukrainians drones to do it or else it just does it themselves. Putin has said that any country supplying arms must face the consequences, you’d wonder sometimes if it would make a lot of difference either way who actually pulls the trigger.

I asked you what you thought would be acceptable to Putin in “diplomatic” terms.

You said “Finland”.

You didn’t expand on that.

Finland is a European Union country which looks set to join NATO.

Putin has invaded Ukraine, long had a plan to invade Ukraine, and denies the right of a Ukrainian state or people to exist.

He has said there will be military consequences for Finland - and Sweden, if they join NATO.

So no, I think we can say for certain that Ukraine as “Finland” would not have been acceptable to Putin.

Glas is like FIFA. He condemns the aggression used in the Russian invasion, but not the invasion itself. And fighting back against the invasion is to be condemned. You can’t be anti-war if you support fighting back against those waging a war of aggression. Be nice to the invaders and they will relent and go home and give you back your country. You catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar, as Glas’s mammy once told him.

BREAKINGRussian convoy ‘stretches up to 40 miles’

Satellite imagery company Maxar Technology says that earlier reports indicating the column of Russian armour advancing on Kyiv is 17 miles (27km) long are inaccurate.

The convoy actually stretches about 40 miles, according to Maxar.

The company added that new images also show ground troops and attack helicopters in southern Belarus, less than 20 miles from the Ukraine border.
