Russia Vs Ukraine (Part 1)

we dont get gas and oil from Russia, he is giving you grants to insulate your house and he isnt banning fireplaces & stoves

I’d imagine Because of lads just like him vote him in. He does seem like a nice guy but as you say you wouldn’t follow him into battle, you’d ge wiped out in a flash

The Green agenda is laudable but they sacrificed energy security and didn’t think through the consequences of needing Russian oil and gas and it has partly led us to where we are now.

We should not turn off/close down energy we control until we have the replacement we control up and running.

They got it wrong. I expect the war will see this mistake recognised and rectified.

You do know that all these new homes are now being built with no chimneys and they’re trying to ban stoves for environmental reasons, and as for the grants they’re not worth a wank as it costs twice as much by the time you Wade through the regulations and criteria

Not necessarily as the East is still a big area to govern.

Only issue the West & NATO have I’d imagine is if Kyiv falls and Putins advances Westward then it’s getting close to existing NATO forces on the ground.

Banning stoves & fireplaces?

I’m no expert on the geographic make up of Ukraine but I’d imagine about 70% of its main infrastructure and population are east of Kiev (inc Kiev).

The propaganda is coming in thick and heavy from both sides about how their campaigns are going but I’d imagine Kharkiv will probably be taken soon and every new territory Russia control aids their campaign. Resistance will be harder keep up if the bigger areas are being turned over.

It’s a question of days before Kyiv is taken
Maybe a week or ten days. Then it’s whether there is a negotiated settlement or whether Ukrainians mount a continuing guerilla war/resistance from the East and neighbouring countries.

At some point food supplies and power to besieged cities means they’ll have to deal.

Sanctions will bite Russia in short to medium term and the work the Russians did to sow disharmony and division in West over last 20 years has been undone over last week.

It’ll be a Pyrrhic victory

What’ll the Russian soldiers survive on for grub over the next ten days or two weeks? The rations they were sent were gone off by a few years. They’ll be wandering the streets starving knocking on doors looking to surrender for a sandwich.

There’s a lad here who ate a MRE from 1945 - they’ll be fine.

I saw an article in paper where the couple in late 50s spent 30k insulating the house and they reckon they’ll both need to live into their 80s before it pays … you couldn’t make it up

Has there been any other time in recent history where two separate countries have attacked another?

Any chance Putin will surround Kiev with tanks and then start negotiations? … it gives him a perceived win if he then withdraws …

ring up a company that insulates attic, pay 20% towards the total cost

not that hard
