This sort of stuff is why I don’t have any sympathy with the bogus “let’s be fair to the Russians” narrative.
Also, we are being fair. It is entirely fair and then some to say the Russians are on the side of evil, and that a collective sense of national guilt, shame, remorse and atonement when all this over will be essential if the word “Russian” is not to become forever synonymous with evil in a similar way to how the word “Nazi” is.
I just had a pint with a man who pointed out that we are seeing pictures of a bombed childrens hospital because thats what western propaganda want us to see and it’s not necessarily the real story
Again- you are demanding that the West treat Russia like a child but on the other that it respects Russian greatness and the public’s lack of shits for democracy. An inherent contradiction.
I’m not sure why you are talking about the struggles that the Weimar Republic had…I never denied that. What I said was asinine was the podcast you quoted comparing Russia post the end of the Soviet Union to that Weimar Republic. For some reason you’ve invented something I never said and wrote a whole paragraph on it as if it has any relevance to the argument. You’ll need to actually articulate the real comparisons for us.
There’s so subtlety here. Russia not being a democracy would lead to this road. That is inevitable. When normal countries have a shit Government or two, it goes away and a new one comes in its place. Apparently we in the West all need to respect that Russians don’t care for democracy. A lack of democracy will always lead to this scenario for Russia as their designs on empire have never been tempered. We are apparently supposed to respect and understand that.
On the podcast, I’m laughing because you quoted it and made some ridiculous comparisons to the Weimar Republic as one of your “takeaways” from your research.
I don’t know where you plucked that from…its a bit like @Malarkey invoking admiration for putin, russian queers and not wanting to live in a liberal democracy. What is it you intellectuals call it? A straw man or something?
Thats kind of hhe point that i was making- chaos/post cold war/post ww2 scenarios open the door for lsds like putin and hitler. Though I appreciate you’ve obviously arrived at this conclusion through unbelievable ignorance. Democracies also start wars…Google is your friend here.
You’ve offered a few different explanations and convolutions here. I can’t make much sense of them tbh.
Look, I am not looking for a row. I just asked a few questions out of curiosity.
There are times when you sound like you do not want to live in a liberal democracy – or you, more to the point, do not believe we truly live in a democracy, because of Big Pharma and Bill Gates et al. You appear to believe the majority of people are being manipulated by some cadre of concealed illuminati. Or would you consider this gloss unfair on the basis of many comments by you on here over the last two years?
I mean, why did you say a few weeks ago that you were nearly hoping for a European war, because young people had gone so soft? Even by offhand/throwaway standards, is this remark not a most odd one?
I don’t think either of us are sure what you’re talking about here? Some bantz maybe, something ironic, sarcastic or throwaway? This stuff about expressing admiration for putin’s media, putin himself etc? I’ve literally no idea where you got this. I compared him to hitler ffs. That said ive absolutely no interest in gawping at the news and mumbling ‘putin bad man’. Id rather try and figure out the origin of the invasion- his motives, the role of the US, the rights and treatment of ethnic Russians within Ukraine, the warning signs, the war crimes etc …everything basically.
They’re telling us what they plan to do. Sweden would want to wake the fuck up.
And all of a sudden, “polite people” show up. Which are welcomed by the local population. He’s not welcome, they just hiding in the houses. At the same time, the territories of the western military district are moving troops to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. At this point, the electronic suppression of the radio is turned off, and the west and NATO learn that Russia has declared a no-fly zone with a radius of 400 kilometers around the island of gotland. The entire Baltic Sea is in the crosshairs of Russian bastions
There’s probably a lot of deep underlying broader reasons behind fr Brendan Smyth abusing kids too but there isn’t a huge appetite to talk about them. It’s alright to have ‘putin is a cunt’ to be your dominant thought too surely.
Speaking of embassies, perhaps @glenshane might know something about this, given that he comes across as the type that would probably have been inside the embassy writing propaganda on behalf of the murderers.
