Our politicians in the west would want to start dropping pointed references to us having lots of nuclear weapons into interviews and speeches etc.
As it is, public attention in the west is already beginning to drop off, and companies are already finding ways to cock a snook at the sanctions.
Miriam on Prime Time here basically pleading with some Ukrainian government official to surrender. He doesn’t seem very impressed with her line of questioning. Bringing up Irish history. Miriam counters with her beloved Good Friday agreement. Bit awkward all round.

Surrendering mightn’t be so simple. Zelensky was either unwilling or unable to rein in his own forces prior to invasion. If he gives in now he’ll have have various factions to contend with and he’ll certainly be at odds with some of them. Hilary clinton fancied an insurgency, she could easily get it along with a civil war.

That’s not how things work at the border mate. There are already people with sketchy links to the Ukraine arriving from places like Gran Canaria saying they need help. They’re a tiny minority but it’s happening.
Like it or not no nation on earth can give everyone asylum, and far from all asylum seekers are genuine

Every country on it not only can, but is required to give asylum to every genuine refugee.
After that it’s a short path to citizenship anyway.
May be a few false claims to weed out but as you said, a tiny minority. And I said nothing about them, I said we should should welcome in refugees. We get a tiny a proportion of them anyway, the racism and miserliness of anyone suggesting we should turn away anyone fleeing war beggars belief.

The reality of the refuge crisis is that the majority of the present refuges are from areas occupied by Russia, and in my opinion most of these areas will not be handed back at the end of the war. So unless NATO move in to sort it all out, I generalise in saying must countries will have to cater for what they currently have, and more.
As I posters above, there needs to be a solution, however bad it might be.
