I know very little on the topic but I’m surprised how quickly China and India have gotten into line with the Americans stopping Russian oil.

Surely some sort of positive from a very negative situation.

They could have settled for far less three years ago, without losing hundreds of thousands of young men.

It’s like a peace deal that a Russian plant in the American administration would draw up

It’s like something an outfit on the brink of collapse trying to save face would come up with surely.

And security guarantees to go beside the previous security guarantees. They’ll be untouchable.

What i said at the time was correct… in fairness, The EU did a very good job combating the energy crisis. It had the potential to really polarize Europe which Putin hoped for.

ā€œI was wrong but that means I was right.ā€

Question for the free thinkers, if Ukraine has to reduce its army will Russia have to do the same?

It’s actually more like the deal the Europeans and Ukrainians put to the russians ten years ago

Stick to your good vs evil dictum.

Your brain cant operate outside that field.

I suppose it depends on who’s winning

Did the deal proposed by the Europeans and Ukrainians 10 years ago legitimise the annexation of Ukrainian territory by Russia, as the latest proposal seems to do?

If i recall there was a proposal to grant autonomy to the Donbas region if real verifiable elections were held and the outcome went that way.

Yes and Ukraine would still have control of the border between Donbas and Russia

And we’d all still be friends on here.

All the deals accepted and proposed by the Ukrainians granted autonomy to those regions. Unfortunately, the Europeans and Ukrainians had no intention of implementing the initial agreements, if we’re to believe Angela Merkel and francois hollande. In fact the intention was to train and arm Ukraine with the purpose of taking donbass and crimea. Obama recognised the danger of such a strategy… and ā€œsent blanketsā€ (D. J. Trump). Trump himself, mired in the russiagate hoax probably felt he couldn’t be seen to be siding with russia, and made the regrettable decision of supporting Ukraine in their attacks on donbass, rather than insisting on the alternative- implementation of minsk 2.
The isranbul agreement of april '22 largely mirrored the minsk accords.

I appreciate that none of this is reflected un the current woke/politically correct, fairytale de jour. But you can verify it all for yourself.
The war could easily have been avoided. there was an early off-ramp… but the americans and europeans wanted the conflict to continue. The likes of starmer, macron, and merz are still desperate to avoid peace.

Yes you may mentioned before that Russia is in no way at fault for this conflict.

Grow up. I definitely mentioned the opposite.
You’d have been first in line with a stone, shouting ā€˜he said jehovah’.
