Do you think the russians intended to conquer the whole of Ukraine?
Sure who knows? They’re not making much of a fist of it whatever their objectives are.
The term “special military operation” would indicate that, whatever the original military objective was, it was meant to be over quickly. An “operation” taking 3 years with no end in sight is approaching National Childrens Hospital levels of laughable planning.

The Ukrainians were bombing the shit out of donbass, and building up an army to take back both crimea and the donbass, as confirmed by Merkel and hollande. Id say russia blinked first

Russians have no interest in Ukraine at all shure. Well… not since they high tailed it back across the Belarusian border after a few days. If they’d stayed longer they could have made a long weekend out of it.

They’ve made three attempts to resolve that conflict through negotiations. The americans have been open about provoking that conflict, I’d say they’re pretty happy with how its going
