Does Matt Fitzpatrick chip with a Hurley grip?
He does. Pure awkward looking
I think the Yanks could win this session 4-0.
Is it only Hovland & McIlroy playing all 5 sessions for us?
Captain Donald has given everybody at least 2 matches out of the 4 games over Friday & Saturday.
Surprised Rahmbo was rested this afternoon but heās a burly boy & he went to the 18th yesterday evening so it might be astute captaincy to keep him fresh for the singles tomorrow.
1999 at Brookline, Team Europe lead 10-6 going into the Sunday singles. Team USA won the singles 8.5 to 3.5 to win 14.5 to 13.5.
Go on Bob!
Justin Thomasās game is gone to pot altogether. Zak took a risk picking him, as heās playing shite all year. His form has continued, looks like a mid handicapper out there.
He was the better half of that pairing yesterday by a good way
Thatās not saying much, Spieth is as bad. As poor as Iāve ever seen them as a pair
āSacked in the morning, youāre gettinā sacked in the morningā, chant the home English fans at US captain Zach Johnson.
The US team are a rabble. Zach Johnson was very strange choice as captain, an absolute oddball.
They are raging about it over here.
Clark has been poor down the stretch today and yesterday
Bantah
Cantlay is a horrible cunt.
Oooohhhh. Turning point? Cantlay pulls out a massive putt on 18 and then gives Rors the big stare. McIlroy misses a longish putt to tie and then Fitzpatrick to tie hits a pathetic effort short.
USA win the bottom match and win the session 3-1. 10 and half to 5 and half going into the singles. This isnāt over. There is a lot of low hanging fruit on the European team for the Americans to pick off in the singles.
Send in the pawns like the fat lads early let Rahm, Hovland and McIlcunt ease it home as the anchor.
The entire US team need to go capless tomorrow, itās their only hope.
Rahm is definitely your strongman at the top of the order. Hovland has played all four sessions as has McIlroy. Iām not sure McIlroy is the man you want anchoring, but he could do with an extra bit of lie in.
I expect the US to notch 7 points from the singles minimum and that would take them to 12 and a half. Then youāre into the dogfight for the extra couple of points to get over the line. Itās possible. 11.5 to 4.5 was surely too much of a gap but the US now only need to get the same number of points Europe got in the singles in 2012 to retain the cup.
Youāre looking at who are the US players playing badly to see where the European points will come. Justin Thomas looks a banker. Maybe Rickie Fowler because heās a bottler. Scheffler and Koepka got such a hiding earlier that I expect there will be a backlash.
Thatās a massive win for the USA in the bottom game. I stopped watching when Europe were 1 up after 14 or 15 & didnāt see them turning it around. As @Cheasty says, itās not beyond the realms of possibility they could win the singles 8.5-3.5. I know they play team golf on the collegiate circuit & then have the Presidentās Cup too, but they still always seem way more individualistic than the Europeans in the fourballs & especially foursomes format. Plus a lot of those Europeans will have expended a lot of mental energy leaping around like mad men in their little gang. But they might feel a little lonely when theyāre one on one tomorrow. I could see the likes of Morikawa beating someone like Straka 6&5 or something. If I had to pick, I still think the Europeans will do it but probably after a few scares & only by 15-13 or thereabouts.
