Disagree , he signs when he is young and relatively poor. The 3rd party generally gets a serious cut of the action and has little or no responsibility . Where were most of the holding companies registered ???.
This is a strawman . What done for the ex Limerick boss was advising how the rules can be circumvented . He was fucking naive given past erm … Allegations . Also I guess he never read history and learned how SVE got stung.
The only reason a hooker uses a pimp is because the pimp will kick the shit out of her if he doesn’t cut her in.
Not many footballers own their economic rights, whether it is the club they play for who owns them or some type of venture firm, they are not in control of their movement. To say third party owned players are indentured slaves is absolutely preposterous.
I never said they are indentured Slaves and I will bow to your greater knowledge of vice. However I would like to know how many players from South America there were owned by third parties earning small money in European second tiers etc being ripped off.
The slave analogy is a disgrace and glosses over the horrors of slavery .
I don’t know if they WERE and neither do you. The issue is that the practice is banned and the England manager made a dick of himself by advising “businessmen” how to circumvent these rules.
It was just chit chat, Big Sam was naive for trusting them and elaborating but there is nothing that is really disgusting about third party ownership re a player’s welfare, which is the point I’m contending.
"The dirtiest player I ever encountered wasn’t a forward though, he was a midfielder. Johnny Giles, an Irishman who made his name at Leeds as an enforcer alongside Billy Bremner. He was player manager at West Brom against Bolton and was someone who could handle himself and wouldn’t be intimidated. He was a hugely talented player but had a real dark side. He would go right over the top, you’d feel it on your shin, moan at the ref when you went down in agony then tell you “Fucking get up, it’s a man’s game”.
