Serie A 2010/11

Palermo 1-0 up inside two minutes away to the old lady here and playing well too…

Pastore misses a great chance there for his and Palermo’s second of the game. He is some player all the same, a fine and stylish player. Del Piero with a rasper just tipped over the bar. And now a theatrical dive from Del Piero inside the box. This game has everything…

2-0 Palermo. It looks they are going to beat the old lady for an unprecedented fourth time on the trot. When they won at the Delle Alpi last season the home fans set fire to the stadium. There will be people killed there tonight yet.

Just watching the second half here; is that Storari in goal? He should have done much better for the second goal. The bastard’s heroics for Sampdoria at Roma in one of the final games of last season cost us the league. Pastore is indeed a superb player; I think Manchester City were looking to get him during the summer but Palermo were quoting them ridiculous money as they didn’t want to sell him after already letting Kjaer and Cavani go. I though Maradona might have got more use out of him during the World Cup but their midfield was all over the place.

Yes, i’m fairly sure that is Storari in goal. Juve very poor tonight.

Where is Kjaer plying his trade now?

He joined Schteve McClaren’s Wolfsburg. I think he went for a big fee but I can’t remember what it was. Souness said he found him attractive on RTE during the World Cup.

3-0 Palermo now. This is a rout.

Fair aul free kick there, keeper looked shite for it tho

Steve McLaren is at Wolsburg. :o

Oh wait!

Iaquinta with a consolation. Still and all it won’t take the gloss off Palermo’s win…

Yes, they went for McClaren having been impressed with his job in leading FC Twente to the Eredivisie title.

Chielini looks like an old woman…

Not a good start to the season for my beloved Juve. Simply don’t have enough class players to challenge, and still reliant on the legend Del Piero, not a good sign to be fair to the man.

Europa spot would seem to be the aim, sad to see.

Milan have just kicked off at home to Chievo. A very attacking line up with Seedorf playing behind Pato, Zlatan and Ronaldinho.

Another fantastic weekend of Italian football drawing to a close with the Genoa derby to follow tonight.

Chievo equalised in the 93rd minute against Juve, who had been in front through this cracker by Quagliarella:

For the second game in succession, Napoli have won with an injury time winner. Cavani with the goal and they’re now up to second.

Palermo, who Napoli defeated on Monday night, were held at Bari. Ilicic scored again for them - he’s having an incredible season and is playing better than Pastore. Lots of big clubs will be looking at him.

The early game was a belter; Nazio defeated Udinese 3-2 in an all out attacking, gung ho game. A late own goal won it for Nazio but Hernanes was quality for them again and the Chilean World Cup star Alexis Sanchez was sheer class yet again for Udinese. I’d take him at Roma in a heartbeat. Goals here:

Table (Played/Points):

  1. Milan 17/36
  2. Napoli 17/33
  3. Nazio 17/33
  4. Juventus 17/31
  5. Roma 17/29
  6. Palermo 17/27
  7. Inter 15/23
  8. Sampdoria 16/23
  9. Udinese 17/23
  10. Genoa 16/21

I see Benitez is using the media to try to force Moratti to spend big in January. He had a tendency to do similar at Liverpool but I don’t think Inter will take too kindly to his public utterances.

Forgot to post Cavani’s wonder goal to win it for Napoli. Commentator goes mental:

The Napoli support would go mental if they won the Scudetto.

It seems you were right about Moratti Bandage, reports out of Milan has Rafa sacked as of this morning.

Cassano to Milan in a 3 and 1/2 yr deal, confirmed. That should be interesting. For what its worth I think its a good signing personally, for both club and player.

its a no lose situation really. if it works, well and good, and if not, there wont be any shock in it. not sure how he will figure though with Pato and Robinho who drop back that bit further than Zlatan, but time will tell I suppose
