Serie A season 2011/2012

Inter have really fallen away again.

shameful stuff from Inter

Would I be right in saying that it would be 6 defeats on the bounce for Inter

Yep. And they haven’t scored in any of their games. If things stay as they are currently, it would mean they have 1 draw and 7 defeats in their last 8 games…this was a side who were just 6 points off the top of the table little over a month ago as well!

Inter salvaged a draw with goals from Forlan and Milito.

Juventus drew their game in hand with Bologna today. As it stands they now trail Milan by two point.

Rocko.

Bonucci was sent off as well - Chiellini and Barzagli are currently out injured, leaving Caceres as the only fit senior centre half. They travel away to Genoa next. Not sure who they can slot in there, maybe De Ceglie or Lichsteiner but they’d be very vulnerable you’d feel. They have only scored more than once, once in their last five matches - 1 win and four draws.

Pescara boss Zdenek Zeman believes that Ezequiel Lavezzi is more vital to Napoli than hotshot Edinson Cavani.

Speaking to Il Mattino, Zeman, who bossed the Azzurri in 2000-01, hailed the ability of the Argentine forward.

“Cavani is a great player, but I think that Lavezzi is more important,” the Czech tactician commented.

“The Azzurri are very good defensively and they are very impressive on the counter-attack thanks to the skills of Lavezzi.”

Zeman is a fan of attacking football as his 4-3-3 philosophy underlines, but he’s also impressed by Walter Mazzarri’s 3-4-1-2.

“I like the way they play. I said that at the start of the season and it still holds up today. They are a team with well implemented tactics and they undoubtedly play the best brand of football.”

Napoli have had their struggles domestically this season, but they are very close to reaching the last eight of the Champions League.

“I think the 3-1 first leg advantage over Chelsea will be enough,” Zeman added. “I’m convinced that they will go through even if it will be tough. They’ll have to fight though.

“Nevertheless, Napoli have always played in Europe and they’ll score.”

Great to see a footballing luminary such as Zeman echo my sentiments.

Napoli take an early lead after a low drive from 25 yards out from Marek Hamsik.

On ESPN for those interested.

Must win game for us tonight, need to keep our recent good run of form going.

And a beautiful finish by Hamsik to make 1-0 after 9 minutes. Lovely goal.

This will be Napoli’s fifth Serie A win in a row if Napoli see it out tonight, a shame they had such a rotten run in mid-season, hopefully they can keep going and get 3rd place. Ibarbo is a lovely player, think Cagliari will struggle to hold onto him this summer. Columbia are bringing through some great players at the minute.

I think Lavezzi may well be the best Argentine to play in Serie A since Diego.

Cannavaro makes it 2, lovely delivery from Lavezzi and Cannavaro heads it in off the bar at the back post.

Milito has missed a penalty for Inter.

Cannavaro puts his head where others wouldn’t put their boot  The San Paolo is rocking

It’s 3. Lavezzi’s cross is turned in by Astori.

Lovely football in the lead up to the defender turning it into his own goal. The Cagliari defence have twisted blood. We’re now in the happy position where we can rest players ahead of Wednesday night if we wanted to but I think the best thing is to go with the flow and really press this home and boost our already sky high morale even further.

I’d like to see Vargas get a run out. I’d wrap Lavezzi up in cotton wool once Napoli have sewn up games, an unbelievable talent.

3-1, Larrivey pulls one back.
