Agreed. Small margins but we let them have the initiative for 20-25 minutes after half time. They didn’t create much, but we allowed them have territory, build up some pressure and they scored from a set piece. We needed to regain a foothold and the changes were needed 10-15 minutes after half time. We were limp then for 20 minutes after going 1-0 down before belatedly applying some pressure and creating chances late on. We could have drawn had Kyogo squared that chance but that was ultimately very disappointing. I know there’s a huge difference between at home to bottom six fodder and away games against the huns, but it’s sink or swim in derbies and some of them failed badly.
Dreadful second half. However for the next game vs them you should/could have Julienne back in defense, Forrest and McCarthy in midfield and Kyogo in the middle up front. Deadwood like Edouard and Christie should be gone and some players who contribute during these types of games should be in.
I thought that. Defence was solid enough albeit the huns were very poor in the final third. Jovanovic (sp?) Looks a good signing.
I thought the ref had a very decent game for an old firm. Looked calm and reassuringly dour throughout.
Rangers bossed the second half really.
Ryan Christie going mental at Kyogo for not getting a pass. The neck of that cunt.
Another weak second half performance. And a lot of naivety.
Edouard’s miss was atrocious in fairness and he looked off his game afterwards. Christie was really poor for the whole game, though would presumably have scored if Kyogo had spotted him to square it.
Ralston was immense and the rest of the back 3 were good.
Think we need an alternative to Rogic/Turnbull, especially if Christie leaves. Soro is a big step down from McGregor too but hopefully McCarthy is the alternative there more often. Turnbull is a good player but is still improving and wasn’t at his best today. Should really have brought Rogic on earlier.
And says a lot about Ajeti’s standing that we didn’t bring him on chasing the game and brought on a teenager on the wing instead.
Kyogo should have done better with his chances - first one was a good shot but obviously the pass was on though he didn’t see it. But he caused them far more problems when he went inside than he did when he was out wider. So as much as Edouard changed the game positively the other night when he came on, Kyogo looks much more dangerous in a central area where he can run either side of the centre backs or between them.
I thought the same. Of all the players to be upset at someone shooting when a pass was on…
Agree. Kyogo had only one thing in mind, and rightly for a striker. Christie’s little hissy fit caused him to square the second chance too.
Really poor second half from Celtic … Rangers really have their number… A few Celtic players have clearly a psychological issue with rangers …at times Turnbull actually looks scared playing against them…
Just like the other night, nobody attacking the ball for the goal …Starfelt covered well but fcuk me Morelos won the same free off him a few times … he seems to be like Julian and doesn’t like the aggressive centre forward …
Juranovic needs to be on other wing , looks good player but had to keep checking inside and slowed everything up…
Celtic really need to find a leader for these old firm games .
Exactly, blowing balls over the bar for the last 18 months.
He looked very good though Montgomery. Looks to have big game temperament.
Yeah - we don’t have a real Plan B in terms of tactics but we had so much possession in the first half that we should have been able to do the same in the second when they had their good spell. But we were trying to play straight through press every time and there were opportunities to just keep it a bit better and use the pace of the wingers to play in behind rather than short passes into Abada’s feet on the touchline with his back to their goal and expecting him to create something from there.
I think we were slow to react to that period and could have gotten more possession back without drastically changing much but getting the midfield tighter to McGregor and using the wingers in behind as an out ball.
There was some fairly aimless and risky passing about amongst the back five during the period of rangers dominance.
Hopefully Johnston back after the international break too.
Edouard looked fairly abject today. Movement poor, lack of urgency and just general lack of application again today. No doubt he is talented but just unable to show it enough and if he can’t turn up v Rangers he needs to look at himself.
If Celtic pull in €18 million for him it will have been some deal.
Have to agree with this. He’s looking more like an arsenal player by the month.
Jesus bad and all as he was today he doesn’t deserve that
He looks like a disenfranchised Uber talent going through the motions. Like an Arsenal player.
Be interesting to see the fallout of the videos today regarding the famine song.
A lot of noise on Twitter about it anyway but no doubt the SNP will turn a blind eye to anti-Irish racism.
Fair play to Michael Stewart on this.
Be interesting to see if debris thrown at Celtic players throughout is ignored.
