Shane MacGowan (RIP)

Sad news. First saw the Pogues in Croke Park in 1987 with The Dubliners. What a body of music left behind.

Fuuuuuck. RiP. Sweet sally mc lenane one of my all time favourites. Saw them a couple of times. Unbelievable. Crowd was wild as a travellers wedding for the gig. The pogues would do that to you. And the whiskey. But they made you do that too.

As usual Roy captures the mood of the nation with his beautiful words.

They were doing a gig in one of those pubs down Shop St I forget the name of. McGowan had broken his leg and was in a wheelchair so the bouncers had to carry him up the steps to the stage. He thanked them with a covering of pavement pizza.

Roy will surely be holding the fort in one of the cities finest cathedrals this evening drinking nectar from the Gods in memory of Shane.

He was always going to go at Christmas wasnt he. He leaves an incredible musical legacy. The discussion on the rest isnt for today nor tomorrow.

Let the lyrics flow and sing the whiskey.

A TFK exclusive as well.

I’d say Roy has a eulogy draft folder in his phone for all celebrities on the brink.

Sinead, Christy and Shane all gone in the 1 year. There’ll be some session had between the 3 of them on the other side. All with their own troubles and all ridiculously talented.

Shane was ridiculous. That late late tribute a couple of years back where he could barely talk but knew every beat of every song was amazing. He had to slow down to let Philomena Begley catch up on Fairytale of New York and she still butchered it.
