I work with a number of Afghanis - the company brought them and families over a couple of years ago just as the Tali were getting back to running things

We already do. No Afghan people are refused at the border or removed (at least they weren’t when I was there)

It feels like a measure of how far we’ve come. In the 00’s if you heard of someone coming to Ireland from Afghanistan then the assumption was they were coming here to blow something up or help make a bomb of some sort. As time passes you realise the people coming are actually trying to escape to preserve some sort of a normal life.

In my years teaching the best kid I ever taught was a little Afghan boy who arrived with very little English, an absolute topper, he’d stand on his head all day long for ya if you asked him, I had 2 years with him and I couldn’t say enough about him, I’ve vowed to help him in whatever way I can in the future. When I hear Afghan that’s who I think of.
