He was some character. Devilishly handsome. As well as his Marseille exploits he brought Bernard Hinault and Greg LeMond together at the Lie Vie Claire cycling team in the 1980s and by all accounts thoroughly routed Jean Marie Le Pen in a televised debate in 1989. Son of a communist trade union official though he himself was very much a champagne liberal sort of socialist. Still loved in Marseille. The sort of total shit it was hard not to like. I always like to see OM do well since those halcyon days of the early 90s.

Brendan was one of the most annoying drunks in the town back in the day. Fair play to him for giving it up and getting his life back together.
