Significant people's (not celebrities) deaths

Thanks mate

Maki Kaji, a university dropout who turned a numbers game into one of the world’s most popular logic puzzles and became known as the “Godfather of Sudoku,” died at his home in Tokyo on Aug. 10. He was 69.

His death was announced on Tuesday by the puzzle company he co-founded, Nikoli. The cause was bile duct cancer, the company said in a statement.

He’d have knocked a lot more out of it if he’d reversed the numbers to 96.

I can remember as a young buck we joined him as he was doing the O’ Sullivan Beara walk passing at home. Around 92/93 I think. He had time for everyone that day. 2 seconds of the back of my noggin appeared on TV.

There was a great quote attributed to him at the time, more than likely untrue but it has stuck always in my head. “I’ve walked all over Ireland but I ran through Tipp town”.

RIP, his wife only passed away last weekend, I think.

They mentioned that alright on the news report.

The voice of Sunday afternoons.

A staple of Saturday night radio for many years. RIP.
