Absolutely hate the hun cunt and I’m delighted he’s going. I’ve had to see and hear from him when looking and reading about football ever since I started liking the game and I won’t miss him one bit. An awful human being.

[quote=“dodgy-keeper, post: 769909, member: 1552”]Great piece by Taylor there, cheers Bandage. The turnaround he presided over at United has been nothing short of miraculous. Relegation zone when he took over and miles behind Liverpool, if you were told he’d win even one league title at United nearly all United fans at that time would have been ecstatic. The club was in chaos.

The state of Manchester United in November 1986 gets worse in the telling with each passing year. Fair enough Manchester United made a sluggish start in the first 9-10 game of the 1986/87 season, but what’s largely being airbrushed from history is that Ron Atkinson did a fine job. During his five year tenure, Manchester United had finished 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th and won the FA Cup in his second and fourth season.
In Sir Alex’s first five seasons, Manchester United finished 11th, 2nd, 11th, 13th, 6th, won the FA Cup in his 4th season and the Cup Winners Cup in his 5th season.

Just to be clear matey (and accepting that his record in Europe is not what it could be) would you concede that he was a good manager or even an above average one?

Mate, can you point me to your rant on Fergie’s European record? I need some entertainment before bed.

Wrigley Field cleaning house.
For all the millions he spent, his European record is shit, no two ways about it.
To think mere mortals are having a go at a man with this record. Fergie.

+1
if he was at a decent club he would have been sacked years ago
Ah, fuck it, fair play to Fergie, no matter what benchmark you apply, its a pretty impressive record. You have to admire how he brought so much young talent through the ranks like Becks, Giggs, Butt, Scholes etc etc and some of his buys were brilliant, like Schmeichel (half a mil?) Cantona, Van Der Sar. He made a fair bit on Ronaldo, most people though he was crazy paying the 15 mil or so for him.
Most of us love hating him because of the success.
I actually think what he did at Aberdeen was more impressive than Man U.
Enjoy the retirement Alex, though I’m sure we 'll still see plenty of him.

Its always nice to see you still care Raven
Heard there was more journalists than supporters outside Old Trafford today to wish him a fond farewell. Apparently John Snow had trouble finding fans to speak on his live Ch 4 broadcast from outside the ground.

True, his dominance of his domestic league speaks volumes about the poor standard of the premiership. For al the hype and money the English top division lags 3 behind both seria A and La Liga in the top tier of Europe during the Ferguson era, it really is the poor relation and Ferguson was found out in Europe repeatedly and it’s generally acknowledged he was quite fortunate the times he did manage to succeed there.
2 lucky wins while managing the richest club in the world
would hate to see what a decent manager might do there

For every Schmeichel there’s a Taibi or Bosnich. For every Ronaldo there’s a Djemba Djemba or a Bebe
How many quality young players did he bring through in 27 years? The Nevilles, Giggs, Beckham bunch account for about 10 great players in 27 years. Most of his other young players ended up plying their trade in League 1 and the like or carving out Championship level careers. I’m thinking of names like Luke Chadwick, Ben Thornley, that long-haired fella who was with West Brom. Paul McShane. There’s a plethora of players. Even Robbie Brady, undoubtedly a seriously classy player and only getting better, was attempted to be converted into a left-back just to suit the sour-faced cunt. That would’ve been a travesty and I hope he scores with a 25-yard curler to beat Moyes’ United next season at Old Trafford.
Paddy Crerrand back on Newstalk in a few minutes
Crerand claiming that Man U have known for the last two months. After his outburst yesterday he’s some dope to be making claims like that.
