Six Nations 2009
Don’t know about that-
I’d go with Leo Cullen before the lads ye’ve mentioned and I think Trevor Hogan would be well up there as in all likelihood is Damien Browne

Toner looks like he could do with filling out a lot and getting more aggressive but he’s only young

WBY
Cullen is injured and that why I omitted him, will probably be second choice come next autumn if he can get fit and regain some form…Hogan is an average Magners League lock nothing more…Toner seems to have plenty of potential but is a couple of years behind in his development compared to Ryan and Caldwell…

One lad I really like the look of is Andrew Farley of Connacht but I don’t know if he would be eligable for Ireland(don’t know what level he playd for Australia at)…

I’d probably have agreed with you re Hogan til this year but think he’s come on a tonne. He had a great game in Twickenham against Wasps when its mattered most recently

WBY

Same as Mick O’Driscoll.

Would have kept Mal in there myself, but Damien Browne? WBY, are you for real? Is this the fella who used to play for Connacht then went to Northampton?

I had to google it there, he is now at Brive. FFS, he wouldnt get in the squad at Munster, Leinster or Ulster let alone get a fucking international cap!

Haven’t seen much of him at Leinster TBH…but saw him a good few times when he was playing AIL with Shannon a few years ago and he looked a class above most other locks…Has the physicality and abrasiveness for the top level but whether that is enough…He must be the wrong side of 30 at this stage

O Callaghan is average at best also.

Micko aint great but Hogan is a level below him. Was no where near making the breakthrough at Munster.

I would nearly agree with you bandage, think Mick is overrated myself, good lineout operator but is poor enough around the pitch

The point being O’Kelly is a considerable class above both of them and I’m seething about his omission.

Go away out of that Dan

Just because you had to google him doesn’t make him a bad player…

Just renewed his contract with Brive, Top 14 in Frabce is a better standard than ML to be fair

WBY

Sure your always fucking seething…

If you’re happy with parochial, nudge and wink selections like O’Driscoll ahead of O’Kelly then rock on by all means.

He hasn’t been selected ahead of him yet bandage…Big Mal is past it when it comes to international rugby, face facts, I hope it isn’t Mick on the bench all the same…

are you actually for real?

I would have been a long time coming up with his name for an international call up!! He has started 4 games out of 17 in the league for brive, surely you cant think thats good enough form to warrant a call up to the International squad. You are taking the piss I assume.

But if he picked Hogan DK would be accused of MUnster bias as well. He is still not as good or as experienced as MO’D. Just because he is Munster 3rd choice doesn’t mean he isn’t better than the 1st choice 2nd rows in Leinster, its pretty obvious Leinster’s stregths lie in their backs.

I believe it would be a no brainer was Cullen not injuried.

Very debateable a this stage. O’ Kelly 2 years ago was the 3rd best Lock in Ireland, now he’s not and is past it. What else is there about it?

Only half Dan… we follow the status quo too much I think

The real man to have on the bench is Quinlan, could cover 4/5 and backrow. Whether or not Deccie will pick him is another question.
Leamy, Quinlan, Best and Healy would be my forwards subs but I’d say Deccie will pick a very different bench

Because they are the best. You were just looking for any old plonker to throw in there as long as he wasn’t from Munster.

How do ye share all the chips ye have around lads. Pathetic.

I think Quinlan is past it as well at this stage, think Ferris might cover it sufficiently

In fairness I thought Quinlan had a fine game saturday playing in the second row and would rather him there than O Driscoll or O kelly…
