Six Nations 2009

strong bench also, nice to see an irish team for a change with players in their best positions

Serious power on the bench you’d hope. Fuck it, the optimism in back, in Kidney we trust!

absolutely, in Kidney and O Connell we trust!!!
here we go, wallace in at 12, gowan kidney do it your own way boy!

RELAND (v France): Kearney, Bowe, O’Driscoll, P Wallace, Fitzgerald, O’Gara, O’Leary, Horan, Flannery, Hayes, O’Callaghan, O’Connell, Ferris, D Wallace, Heaslip.
Can’t argue too much. I don’t think Earls wasn’t so fantastic that he should have been on and he has very little experience.
Fair play to PW, he has never given up and is skillful, i just worry about him against the likes of Jouzion.

The back row going by talent and potential, is possibly one of Irelands best ever, but thats a big possibly.
You heard it here first folks…!

My team except for Heaslip as it turns out.
Not expecting much from Fitzgerald but delighted that Paddy Wallace is getting a chance. Rob Kearney should be left full back and not moved around to accomodate others. Would think Darcy is incredibly lucky to be on the bench ahead of Earls. Murphy could make a big impact if introduced.

Is Reddan injured or what’s the story?

A squad

Disappointed to see Dorsh in there instead of Earls. Kidney seems to have gone for some serious experience on the bench though.

Stringer should be in the A squad as he’s shit.

That’s my analysis.

Think Earls missed a good bit of training last week due to the knee injury he picked up in Montauban

I would agree but Reddan hasn’t been much better at Wasps

Allez Les Bleus.

That is all

Leinster Lions arent playing Quins until after the 6 Nations. Keep the powder dry baby.

Reddans face doesn’t fit with Kidney, there is speculation this is because Reddan gave Pat Howard a glowing reference to the media in relation to the irish job, and a week later Kidney was appointed.

I would hope Declan Kidney is not like that, its a bit Eddie OSullivanesque, but i can see no reason why the regular Wasps scrumhalf and previous owner of the irish shirt is behind Munsters No2 Magners league scrumhalf.

Huh ?

Exactly.

I have heard a few people make that point alright, but Gaffney was the Munster coach when Reddan left so I doubt there was too much of a fall out…

You could say that it is wrong but if that is the case you could make the same arguement about Gordan D’Arcy seeing as he hasn’t played much apart from a magners league start and a couple of sub appearances…

Reddan has been poor, considering that at te start of the season people were talking about him being the potential Lions test scrum half, now it looks like he hasn’t much of a hope of making the travelling squad…

My dear god I sometimes wonder what level of cop on these writers in RTE have

In the backs, Kidney has elected to stick with the Paddy Wallace/Brian O’Driscoll pairing that faced New Zealand in November in the centre. The selection means O’Driscoll, who will also captain the team, is likely to operate as an orthodox outside-centre rather than play from the modified inside-centre role he has occasionally adopted for Ireland in recent years.

Having met one or two in my day, not much is an adequate answer.

Ealrs wasnt considered due to injury, couldnt have picked him anyways really. FB was where he has played most rugby this year and he wasnt an option there with Kearney.

Coudlnt pick him on the wing having played fook all games there.

Wouldnt think Kidney is picking on Reddan. he has been in poor form for a team in very poor form, not a good mix.
