I agree Idah is nowhere near good enough but Connolly will be a stalwart for us over the next decade, more than capable of delivering and i’m sticking with my call that he will get us a penalty at some stage tomorrow night!

Mcclean better than Connolly? Mcclean is struggling to get into stoke team.
If Spock is committed to possession based football he won’t have a carthorse like McClean near the team. He’s somewhat acceptable if you are following the template of recent managers of chasing hoofs up the field and winning throw ins
I think Connolly will be a mainstay in the team for many years. Idah is more likely to be a squad player.
I think it wont take a whole lot to become a mainstay in this team given the talent at our disposal.

This is a huge season for Connolly tho - if he gets 10+ goals and a few assists - that will have been a good season for him you’d have to say.

He could have been a top top rugby player.
McClean isn’t limited in what the current Irish team need . Grit , hard work , cut and he can get a goal . Until we have better and a better system I would start him .
Egan and Duffy really need a protector too and I am not sure if we have another Glenn Whelan yet .

Idah isn’t ready yet to start for Ireland but Connolly most definitely is. Starting regularly enough in the Premier League and a threat as well with his pace. If he develops more of an end product then he’ll be a great player for Ireland.
