Sport Journalists - Who Do You Rate and Hate?

You’re not far wrong. Walsh is good though, Paddy Agnew has his moments.

Who are we referring to here?

Nothing to link to.
My tribute to SS’s pal was given a post match red card.

The son of a famous Listowel writer, he threatened legal action against Shannonsider over comments made on AFR.

Apologies, misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that he had been barred from Boards.

No need to apologise; glad of it really
Its hard work over there
too much politness and niceness and feckyness

Ah that fella. Dont rate him, never read him.

SS’s pal is very busy; barred from Boards.ie already[/quote]

Porky or Marion?

Don’t read much sports journalists to be honest but I think there are much more bad sports journalists than there are good ones.

Henry Winter is incredibly pro Liverpool and, as MBB said, pro Gerrard.

Who is that fook that writes for the Mirror? Oliver Holt? I remember a piece of his commenting on some defeat of Chelsea’s (could be semi-final versus Liverpool in 2007) where he eulogised over Terry, Lampard and Joe Cole being the only players to stay on the pitch at the end ‘like real men’, while the rest of the team (all foreigners) went into the dressing rooms. Massively xenophobic and completely irrelevant.

What a wankstain.

Was this real man Terry the same who cried like a little bitch in Moscow? Yes? Ok then.

Yea, its obscene who tightly Winters clings to Gerards hole.

ah no, those two are small fry compared to my new baby.

He could be his father.

Nothing new to add here but I’ll name my names anyway.

Tom Humphries was excellent but way too self-indulgent these days.

Thornley is horrific on the radio, was good on paper but he’s really deteriorating into a mess of clichd imagery.

Hugh McIllvanney is good as a columnist.

Kimmage does the odd shite boring interview but in general his work is superb.

David Walsh isn’t bad.

Keith Duggan would be my top guy in the Irish Times.

George Kimball’s columns are entertaining.

Guardian have some good writers - particularly Sid Lowe.

I would put it on a par with Giles and Dunphy’s treatment of Scholes.

He used to write for World Soccer I believe - a terrific magazine until that xenophobe gobshite Gavin Hamilton took over as editor.

I’m relatively fond of Sean Moran- a good Leitrim man- he reports as opposed to writing a lot of wank
Duggan is generally excellent, in someways you’d like to see read more of him but then he’d probably turn into Humphreys (Duggan has a fondness for super league Basketball).
To be fair to him Arrigant wrote a few tasty pieces on the hurling for the Times in 06 until he lost the plot.

Any of the Fannings- take your pick for lazy analysis and bad journalism.

WBY

biggest wanker has to be PJ Cunningham.

utterly obnoxious.

Like

Enda McAvoy
Vincent Hogan (for the same reasons as TT)
Liam Griffin (I have so much respect for this man and would love to meet him sometime, always does a good piece in the Tribune)
Humphries (sometimes)

Dislike

Curtis
Dion Fanning (what a tit)
Martin Breheny (complete rubbish)

Colm Lambert - he’s brilliant

Who the sports psychology guy in the Trib? I like him.
