Off the top of my head you’d have to have to include McLoughlin in Windsor Park, Houghton v Italy in 1994, McAteer v Holland, Michael Carruth, Bernard Dunne, Katie Taylor at the London Olympics, Sonia, Ken Doherty winning the world championship, the O’Donovan brothers, Istabraq, Catriona McKiernan.

With all due respect I think Shane Long’s goal to beat then World Champions Germany in 2015 brought far more joy to the general public than Istabraq. Johnny Sexon’s drop goal against France 2018 would have to be in there too. Ditto ROG against Wales 2009.

Have you seen our entry for the Eurovision this year? It’s a knocked out in the semi-finals song if ever I saw one.

Although having said that we produced a brilliant song in 2015 (Molly Sterling) and still didn’t qualify. I reckon we have more of a chance of reaching the 2026 World Cup.

Who knows but the general feeling around Europe seems to be that it’s our best effort for quite some time and will probably qualify and that would be my view too.

I can’t remember many of our entries since Jedward. There was a lassie from Derry a couple of years ago who I thought would have been worth a shot in the final but apart from that all our songs in recent history have gone in the ear and out again like this:
