We were talking about the impact on first touch not how far the sliotar travels

Iā€™m taking my vindication

Itā€™d be the end of Limerick mullocking.

Youā€™d have to have a straight red. The punishment would have to be swift and Draconian.

Agreed, put the onus back on the Hurley makers and players. If found to have an oversized Hurley then a straight red.

Ref to do a random spot check before game and at half time and is free to check at any stage during the game. All it takes is a small tape measure

@EstebanSexface

Iā€™m stuffed with all this vindication.

Youā€™d think so but that would require people to actually think in the first place

Simulation that was so effective Waterford conceded precisely zero frees in the whole second half last weekend

Maybe someoneā€™s fouling is the chronic issue here

Waterford stopped tackling because of all the diving in the first half.

Is there any stats anywhere on the ball in play time, or number of contests for the ball per game? When the game flowed up and down the field it used be very enjoyable, thereā€™s less of that now with a score every minute.

Would enforcing the Hurley size rule help here? It might.

Not at all, they just tackled in a smart fashion.

Others could take note.

Thatā€™s actually worse than conceding too many frees

they conceded 4-28, Iā€™d say those notes should be fucked in the bin

Definitely agree about the flow of play in the past. What has changed is the emphasis on possession with the ideal being only losing possession in the event of a score. The size of the bas makes for much easier, accurate striking so enforcing the rule would more than likely cause more overturned possession.
The problem might be that to counter that teams might just increase the run\handpass\run\handpass element of the game. That could of course be countered by a change in the handpass rule.

I see Croke Park has created a committee to look at the sliotar. As usual, looking in the wrong direction.

Easier to police than a bas 2mm too big in an East county Galway local derby. They should increase the permitted bas size in steps as you move from senior down to junior c

Thatā€™s actually not a bad idea at all! And allow wider bas at juvenile. Decrease the size as the skill level increases.

According to Moranā€™s article itā€™s not a couple of mm is the problem itā€™s up to 5 cm!
