Guinness grow their hops in South Kilkenny. Down around Windgap.

The Smithwicks hops were grown in Bennettsbridge. They were still growing them up to a few years ago anyway, but don’t know if when Smithwicks brewing moved to Dublin, did the hops move with them.

Actually I googled it and see that Diageo stopped taking their hops from Kilkenny a few years ago and turned to cheaper imported hops.

We’re importing spuds from England and beef from Brazil, you couldn’t make it up.

There are apple trees groaning with fruit all around the country and lazy cunts won’t pick them. In the meantime the supermarkets are selling apples from Chile and New Zealand.

From my observations there are apple trees in gardens and orchards all over the country that are not being picked.

Hard to get any sort of decent apple in a supermarket any more. Quality has gone to shit. There is an apple farm in Wexford who do a good apple.

We used to have some craic as children skulling apples out of Mrs Gossips orchard. Watching her movements all day and as soon as she went out up over the wall and filling a bag with fruit. It was a great training actually.

There was nothing better than skinning an orchard as a young lads and forcing the mother to make an apple tart/pie/crumble
