Summer Tour to New Zealand and Australia

as i predicted the spudmunchers were hammered- thank fuck that rogbee is now dead

France after scoring a peach of a try there through Rougerie…great line and hands from Bonnaire in the build up

South Africa hit back staright away, the prop Steenkamp shows some turn of pace to get over

Looks like it was Raymond Domenech not Marc Lievremont who gave the French team talk.

My -19 was pending as he crossed the line the bastard.

Watched my first game of rugby union in a while today. Well I watched the first half anyway.

A few points:

It’s clear to me that a lot of the Irish players took the British Lions more seriously than representing their country. A good few today hardly tried a leg.

I cant remember a red card in rugger before. I often wondered what it would take to get sent off. A knee to the head that wouldn’t be out of place outside a certain D4 nightclub suffices it seems. They were looking good for a try there too which made it even worse.

Granted that it is only a minority sport but how the likes of DOC, MOD, any of the front row make a living from this game is amusing.

ROG would not have got past youth level in any of the tri nations countries. A decent enough placekicker does not cover for his complete lack of bottle in tackling and his inability to kick a ball out of play. Even if Sexton missed every single kick he still woudnt be a complete liability that ROG is from open play. Plus his I’m a celebrity get me out of here yellow card should see the end of his international career. His team were getting thrashed and he had enough.

I think Kidney saw last year as a chance to get a last hurrah out of an aging squad. France were building for 2011 and the home nations were at epic levels of shitness. The ten man style of rugby he patented at Munster just about got through. The paucity of that approach and of the players at his disposal has become crystal clear with record defeats against France and NZ barely a year since the ‘greatest triumph in Irish sporting history’. The difference in skill, conditioning, athleticism between the two sides today was unbelievable.

Greece piling on the pressure here.

Edit - how did I forget. The national anthem of Ireland is not fucking Ireland’s call you utter cunts.

A fine, fine post - nail on the head on every front.

Sooperb

Rugby is dead

As a former player and continued supporter of rugby I can’t disagree with much of that.

There’s a notion in Ireland that we fancy ourselves for the World Cup, maybe not outright but for a semi-final. Even negative lads like Neil Francis have been mentioning it.

That cannot happen with O’Gara at out half and it certainly can’t happen with O’Leary at scrum half. We were outmuscled completely today and lost nearly every physical battle but the scoreline was more a reflection of the difference in skill levels. We were unable to make simple passes, with a couple of exceptions. We didn’t kick well, we made handling errors, we didn’t offload etc.

Lots of other faults such as pathetic tackling, bad attitude, bad decision making but you can improve on those in 12 months. The skill levels are the big problem.

An Irish rugby player should never feature on the Late Late Show again, except for when Brian O’Driscoill announces his homosexuality.

It’s never too late to see the light. Forget about rugby football - you’ll never look back.

Amuses me why people have such a problem with Ireland’s Call yet there is no similar outcry over the fact there are two football teams representing this island. If we had one perhaps we would be watching our team in South Africa at present. Couldn’t really give a fook what the anthem is to be honest but certainly pisses me off that football is one of only sports to have two teams representing Ireland.

Compared to a young and relatively inexperienced Aussie backline that played this morning we are literally light years behind…

South Africa lead 35-10. They’re evens -25 in running. Been watching the soccer (just to please Bandage) but any beits I’ve seen SA have been completely dominant so having a piece of that.

gamble landed by the look of it

Come on now, it can hardly be called a World Cup.

O’Leary reminds me of lads that used play in goal in hurling in u-12s and u-14s cos they were brave, strong and not able to hit the ball. Of course the full back used have to go back and take the puck outs. Think it is getting to the stage that they will have to get someone else to pass the ball cos he certainly isn’t able. Cowardly enough too in getting the ball out of the rucks I reckon. Stringer is half the size of him but he used fling it out pretty quick.

Every single NZ player is able to take the ball into contact and turn onto either side and pass it. It seems simple, when you train everyday it should be. They are all athletes too. Compare that to someone like Tony Buckley who can only last 20 mins or so. Lord help if the likes of him ever got the ball in his hands or O’Callaghan. It is actually pretty pathetic in truth.

With the exception of Tommy Bowe who held his own, the rest were an embarrassment.

Danny Shittu is playing against Argentina here

Bastards.

maybe i spoke too soon rocko :frowning:
