Pat Nevin is a bigoted fool who possesses a deformed head. Treat what he says with complete caution.

I would be very surprised if Mourinho let Mata go.[/quote]
+1. Would be stunned if Chelsea let Mata go to Utd even if it meant getting Rooney.
The move for Fellaini and Baines is depressingly predictable. Baines is decent but Fellaini isn’t the solution in
midfield.
Gill’s departure has had a huge impact on Utd’s transfer activity, they’ve looked embarrassingly inept at times. Woodward flew home from the pre-season tour on “urgent” transfer business three weeks ago, zero activity in the interim. Utd had a habit of keeping stuff away from the papers until deals were all but done, that seems to have changed with bids being leaked to journalists.
pot …kettle…black…
I find him to be articulate and insightful and enjoy listening to what he says about our domestic game.
I’m going to sleep on it but I’m edging towards reporting your post in the morning.
what ? the deformed head??..what other choice do u have mate??..

You’re right - Fellaini is not the answer in midfield. But he’s useful - he’s a right handful and can play a bit too.
Amazed United spent the summer trying to buy someone they were never going to get. Surely Modric was a more reasonable target and would address that gaping midfield problem.

They won’t get Modric either, about time they realised the EPL is a busted flush - even with the money being offered there now nobody wants to go.
Fellaini isn’t good enough on the ball at all, especially if he wants to actually play as a midfield player as opposed to the battering ram role further upfield that Moyes used him in for Everton.
Perhaps, but when you consider that Manchester City previously paid them £22 Million for Joleon Lescott ( ) you can see why they’re holding out for more here.
Manchester City have rejected a £21m bid from Manchester United for their former Everton defender Joleon Lescott, branding it “derisory”.
Pardew was all angry at the timing of Arsenal’s bid for Cabaye in his post match interview. Since when are you not allowed to bid for players before they play a match? And why can’t they play if you won’t be accepting that bid?
I’d agree with that. Fellaini is most effective playing as a second striker. Doesn’t have the discipline to play a holding role and isn’t especially creative. Don’t really see where he would fit into the Utd team.
I’m beginning to think that Wenger’s bids are mere posturing.
He is a hammer thrower, some people seem to have got the notion that he’s a good footballer because he excelled in some caveman team. He wasn’t even near as effective as Tim Cahill.
In keeping with the Islamic law and custom so important in the Newcastle dressing room, I would imagine they felt they they had to punish Cabaye for attracting the advances of an unwanted suitor.
I’d say Pardew was just getting his excuses in early by not playing Cabaye

Nevin passes himself off as Moyesies best pal usually when he’s on newstalk
Rumours doing the rounds on twitter that Spurs are to accept an offer of £93 million plus Contrao for Bale.
They also look to be in pole position to sign Willian for €30 million. If both of these come off it will have been a brilliant transfer window for them
