Heās a completely different player to Barkley. I donāt rate Barkley massively, think heās very inconsistent but they donāt play anywhere near the same way and the style of the team would be different depending on who was playing.
Sigurdsson has no pace, he wonāt run at players and he wonāt hassle defenders really. Heāll float around and try to pick up space. For a team like Everton, heāll be best used if they dominate possession. And theyāre more likely to get more corners in that situation.
But if you want to play on the counter, Barkley is much better suited. Heās got pace, heāll carry the ball, run at defenders, pick up positions where he can break effectively. Sigurdsson wonāt really do that, he might ping a few long range passes to a runner.
This match was great fun. Kilbaneās shinner on the follow up should not be forgotten.
