This is the time of year where it might be possible to beat the bookies. Some teams might not be prioritising the league, or be late coming back to training or in disarray for one reason or another. Does anyone have any thoughts on these games? I was looking at the odds in the vbookies section and a few prices jumped out at me: Galway 11/10 to beat Tyrone at home, Roscommon 13/8 to beat Cork at home, Armagh 2/1 to win away to Monaghan and Westmeath 11/8 to win at home to Meath.
I’m not predicting all these will win but there seems to be a bit of value there. Galway will be hard to beat at home and Tyrone are in the midst of some rebuilding. Roscommon haven’t won a game of any note since last April (including championship, qualifiers and FBD Connacht League) but they drew with Meath last time out and Cork will surely be underprepared. Armagh have a new manager and lost away to Westmeath in the last round but 2/1 seems a pretty high price to me. I presume their Crossmaglen players won’t be back just yet though. Westmeath are at home and coming off the back of that victory over Armagh while Meath only drew with Roscommon - it’s a bit of a stab in the dark but 11/8 is good value for the home team who appear to have a little bit more form.
some value in bets there alright. the Roscommon one was one I was looking at too. Have an accumulator going, but didnt have them in, might just leave it as a single bet.
Would go along with some there but I’d fear for Roscommon against Cork. Cork have a lot to prove and are probably more prepared than you’d think. I’d also think that Meath will beat the neighbours. Meath were just caught cold against Roscommon I’d say having had no game due to Corks withdrawl in the first round.
as done on me vBets - I’d fancy mayo to whip laois - they’ll have mcgarrity and harte back in midfield, dillon and mortimer scoring for fun and fairly unlucky to lose to a strong donegal side.
also, and this is a big one, I’d back them to reach the AI final if McDonald returns.
big shock that westmeath bate meath, with only 14 men too, seemingly going well and could possibly challenge dublin this year; in saying all that, meath were shit in the NFL last year too.
roscommon surprisied me as well; also kildare; overall, I was quite surprised!
