Super Bowl LV - The triumphant trail to Tampa (Part 1)

Course he would. Just hand it off or check it down. Handy money

You need to take a look at Matt Ryan’s MVP season. If Shanahan has a QB who can make throws he is going to use it.

Disappointed but not surprised you could see Stafford wasn’t enjoying it under Patricia and at 32 knows that the Lions are in rebuild and 2 or 3 seasons away from the play offs let alone being a contender. Doubt he will be traded unless there is a big enough haul - a couple of first rounders and a couple of other picks/players thrown in.

On another note - the Lions have hired Anthony Lynn as OC. Looks a good appointment on the face of it. Both OC and DC were much sought after and I’m chalking that down as a win for Big Dan Campbell

Does Stafford have it in him to lead a franchise to a superbowl?

To be honest, I think Stafford is genuinely clutch. He wouldn’t be a Rivers or Lamar Jackson type anyway, he just hasn’t had the chances to show it.

There’s obviously an extra jump between merely not being a Jackson type to actually being a Tom Brady type.

Jimmy G back to Boston so?

Depends - put a top 10 defence and above average running game with him and I think he would go very close. Think he would improve the likes of the Colts and make them a legitimate contender

I think you’re right, I’d like to see him win one, he’s a great bit of stuff

Stafford has as many fourth quarter come from behind wins as anyone id imagine. He definitely capable of leading a team deep in play offs without blowing up

Surely the “ Big Dan “ effect will see Staff staying put?

I think the big weakness in Stafford’s game is the short passes. The likes of Brady, Brees, Manning et al all excellent at that short slants, hitches, screens etc the timing stuff which set up the offence and neutralises a pass rush.

But he is top 5 when it comes to arm talent, toughness, play action passing, intermediate and deep passing talent.

He’s a hardy bastard in fairness to him… He has to be in serious pain not to take the field.

Probably unlikely but a three team trade with Niners sending 12 to Detroit plus a 2022 pick and the Pats sending them a lower round pick in exchange for Jimmy.

He is. I think it is a good time to move on for both. The defence is going to take at least two drafts to retool and he will be 35 by then.

In 12 seasons the Lions have only once had a top 10 defence while he was there. They won 11 games that season. I think he has earned the opportunity to go play for a contender and he is the type of fella that if it dues to happen he will get back to work as he is a consummate professional

Pats get Jimmy G and a third round pick, Niners get Stafford and Lions get the the 12th and 15th round picks.

Big Dan taking out the trash
