Super Bowl LVI - The intricate incline to Inglewood (Part 1)

I’d say if you’ve emails like that you should talk to IT about doing a purge

yes, someone who is openly racist, homophobic and misogynistic in society, and being defended for having those opinions is indeed chilling.

Its not like he is some desk jockey doing accounts. He is one of the highest paid coaches in the one of the most valuable sports in the world. He is far more than someone with a job, he is expected to be more than that, representing his franchise and team. Having someone like that as your main focal point of a team is not good business. It maybe to some sectors of society who also dont want to “fall in line”, but the vast majority of people would disagree entirely with his “personal opinions”.

They would as is their right as would I. It doesn’t effect his ability to do his job however.

it does because he resigned. He wasn’t fired. He resigned.

Presumably he held these views when he led Tampa to a Super Bowl?

That’s a different question as well. Who did he call a faggot?

Goodell.

Not his boss (at the time) so. Still very, very stupid.

the emails went on to 2018

Unfortunately in my own profession i wouldn’t dare presume anything.

20 years ago he may have held those views but for him not to identify the shift in social mores and tolerance was a grave error, nearly as much as putting his opinions into text. One cannot deny that which he has given his hand to . no doubt there is language in his contract which would permit termination due to these emails

Additionally, the lcoker would be all but lost, he has the first openly gay player on his roster as well as a large number of minorities.

The Raiders were always a team where it didn’t matter about your race colour or creed, Gruden seems to, somewhat, respect this and has resigned to lessen the impact on the ball club.

When he went back into the NFL presumably

Are you down off your high horse now?

are you down off yours?

You’ve presumed an awful lot here without much to go on

I did ask that question initially. Check the audit trail

I naively thought it would be impossible for anyone to hold the opinion that Gruden could stay in his job after those emails were released. But you get all sorts of contrarians on TFK

How were these emails discovered?

It’s hard to have any sympathy for Gruden. I doubt the face or leader of any huge organisation could expect to ride out something like this and he has quite rightly fallen on his swords. I don’t think this is about cancel culture, you simply can’t lead a locker room once these comments are out in the open.

Jimmy the Greek had to fall on his swords for far lesser comments 30 odd years ago.

But interesting that these emails were leaked yet none of the emails from the investigation in to that creep Dan Snyder’s were leaked.

Think the emails were sent to Bruce Allen, president of the Redskins and were discovered as part of the investigation into Dan Snyder.

Talk about bad luck!
