Super Bowl LVI - The intricate incline to Inglewood (Part 1)

Unreal

Great game. I thought there were some pretty worrying aspects to that performance from a Cards point of view. I dont think the Packers would have ran through the Cards so easily and consistently if Watt were fit. Also I donā€™t think the Cards sacked Rodgers once all game.

I dont know why the Packers always went to throw it in the red zone when their run game was so effective, seemed like pure Rodgers egoism.

On this day

Kyler Murray will be another Lamar when it comes to the play offs. He didnā€™t run that offense at all last night in a good way. Flat track bullies in regular season is one thing. GB were streets ahead on offense last night

For me Rodgers is the best QB of all time, people will point to rings but nobody can do that alone,
There are a few offenses in the league that if he was running them would do exactly what they wanted every time, heā€™d put up 50 points on anybody if he wanted, Brady is great no doubt but imagine Arod at Tampa?
Theyā€™re all human though, he fucked up royally in his last play of last season, massive fuck up

If Tom Brady went to the Jets and won a Superbowl fellas would still be saying BUT RODGERS.

I canā€™t speak to the old greats. I started watching the sport in the 80s and Rogers is the best Iā€™ve seen in that time anyway, heā€™s just unreal what he can do and how he can improvise. Donā€™t buy ring argument either, no other qb in a generation would have this GB team consistently posting 11 plus wins every season and making play offs. Manning maybe

Suddenly the Carkies are downplaying the importance of winning titles

Brady benefits from short fields, good defenses and luck. Rodgers is the modern day GOAT.

if brady went to the jets and won a SB, iā€™d acknowledge him as jesus, never mind the GOAT

As usual itā€™s all about Limerick, itā€™s a very small world

To paraphrase Mr Rodgers just reminding you that we own you.

For a change

When all is said and done if you want a serial winner and the all time clutch player then itā€™s Brady, if underachieving and pretty little spiral throws does it for you then by all means take Rodgers.

Only works as an analogy if you think that itā€™s possible.

Brady is great, I prefer Rodgers, donā€™t sweat it. Lots of great QBs never won anything, mediocre QBs win superbowls

You like the pretty throws thatā€™s ok.

Iā€™m relatively new to NFL but it seems to me there is more to being a great QB than making throws and running the offense. It seems the person is as important as the player and how he is regarded in the franchise.

Brady seems to be a genius at getting his offense onside and working with schemes and managers.

Rogers seems to fall out with everyone eventually.

Brady was brought into a culture which suited his personality and skill set to a tee and he flourished. He is a credit as he maximised every bit of his potential but this is as much down to the culture which molded him too.

The patriots way isnā€™t for everyone but to those who buy in the rewards have been huge.

Itā€™s like all sports really. Rodgers is more talented than Brady. I wouldnt query that. But talent alone is not all that there is to be measured on. I always go back to the 98 draft. It was a flip of a coin between Manning and Ryan Leaf. Both very skilled players and it was up in the air as to who would go No1. Manning obviously had the mentality and work ethic to succeed, Leaf didnt. Mentality, leadership, focus etc are all things that players need as well as talent to be considered the best.

The one thing that does bug me about those who say Brady isnt a good passer or doesnt match up with other players, is that for the most part, he has not had the talent available to make use of the players that make other QBs look great and pretty deep spirals. When Brady had arguably the only top true and true WR in Randy Moss, he set all sorts of records in passing. But for the most part, he has had to work with slot receivers and running backs. Again, itā€™s a skill to be able to read a defence and call a play that gets you past the first down marker. Going balls out for long throws 3 in a row wont win you games, moving the chains and getting scores is what wins. People also talk about Rodgers and if he was in New England, chances are he wouldnt have lasted there with his attitude. Plus he has always had much better receivers than Brady ever had when both at their peak, but yet they still post similar numbers.

Brady has Evans, Godwin and AB now and he looks as good as anyone, even though heā€™s old by any measure of a sportsman, much less in such an attritional sport. The condition of that man is the real miracle. Apparently he canā€™t run, doesnā€™t have an arm and canā€™t run an offense that isnā€™t tailored to him, yet heā€™s just won a superbowl in his first year at a new franchise, in a completely new scheme.

They say itā€™s impossible to just pick up a new scheme like that on the podcasts and stuff.

Iā€™m never one to knock greatness but Bradyā€™s attributes and demeanor would resonate more with me than Rogersā€™. And Brady was a 6th round pick?

That was a good post
