Super Bowl LVI - The intricate incline to Inglewood (Part 1)

I think all four will be gone in the first eight picks.

Would make you think that Goff is going to get a fair shot to be the guy in the medium term. Be interesting to see who they make a run at with the free cap room. Most of the moves so far have been about cleaning up the cap for 2022 and eating dead money to get bad deals off the books.

Or why they’re even bothering

They have picks in the bank and a good bit of young talent. I’m guessing they don’t want to completely tank as they have 4 first round picks in 2022 and 2023 and a ball of compensatory picks coming next year so the aim is to try build the culture and put out a relatively competitive team and build on it with the draft capital and cap space in the next two years that they have stripped the roster down and got rid of the bad contracts rather than just waste a year tanking to get a top 3 or 5 pick which hardly moves the needle all that much overall.

They could just roll that 15 million into next years cap or they could well be freeing space to make a salary dump trade with one of the contenders trying to get under the cap.

They could be lulled into thinking Goff is fine with that attitude though. I’ve no doubt they are a 9-7 team currently even with Goff when coached properly. If you improve everyone around him you get to 11-5 but to win rings you probably need more.

He is the QB until the end of 2022 at a minimum then they can get out of the contract very easily - for around 5 million or so. He will give them a solid level of play while they rebuild the defence. Given that they will two picks in 2023 and if they have a team on the up they have the capitol to move up and get a QB

Where’s the Trey Lance hype coming from? He has a thinner resume than Trubisky.

He was very good in 2019 supposedly, albeit at a lower level. I think the fact that he is close to 250 pounds and ran run people over along with having a strong arm has a lot of people thinking he could be the next Cam Newton or Josh Allen.

Goff is perfectly fine is he gets reasonable protection & has a decent RB to share the load.

Niners bringing back K’waun Williams. In addition to Tartt they’ve managed to resign the key pieces of the D that went to free agency with the exception of Sherman. A few holes left like a speed receiver and linebacker depth but the roster is in decent shape. Jimmy might do for another year.

Belichick will make him a star.

Jacksonville sign CJ Bethard which would make me think that Gardner Minshew is available via trade. He would be an ideal fit for someone like the Steelers, big step up on Rudolph and gives you a cheap medium term QB for a couple of seasons behind Big Ben.

Alex Anzalone picked up by the Lions on a cheap one year deal. He is an upgrade on anything we had at linebacker last year.

49ers trade up to #3 in the draft. Dolphins get #12, a third round pick in 2021 and first rounders in 2022 and 2023.

Jesus!

Looks like a trade up for Zach Wilson. Jets and Saleh at two will have given Kyle a steer they’re not in the mix for Wilson

Watson you mean? Looks like it has to be Denver at this stage

Fields is their guy I’d say. His duel threat is perfect for shanahan

Is the draft actually worth watching? No?

This is huge. Not a fan of giving up two first rounders though.

It’ll either be Fields or Wilson. One, or both, of them will be on the board with the no. 3 pick depending what the Jets do. They’ll trade the pick if they’re sticking with Darnold, but I suspect they’re not and SF know this.

Dolphins immediately trade #12 to the Eagles for #6. Eagles will get Dolphins first rounder in 2022.
