šŸˆ Super Bowl XLVIII- The Path to Meadowlands

No. I said as much in the college football thread. Alex Smith will not win you a Super Bowl. The will go crashing out in the first round of the play offs.

At one point last night, in 3 consecutive snaps, he had 2 fumbles and a pick 6.

The receivers are an issue but New England will comfortably make the playoffs. For all the improvement shown by the other teams, the AFC East is still quite a weak Division and the Pats will win it with a couple of games to spare.

They may even have a shot at a homefield matchup given that either Denver or Kansas City will have to go on the road even though both should post better regular season records. Everyone in the North will continue to beat each other with Indy set to dominate the South. Tennessee were poor last night but theyā€™re not bad and could have a shot at a wildcard.

Rumours abound that Reggie Wayne has done his ACLā€¦

didnt look good when he was on the sidelines anyway. disaster for @Scrunchie if its true.

This is a bad blow for the Colts. I think Luck is a good enough QB to overcome the loss, but this will hurt the team badly. Giving away next years 1st round pick for Trent Richardson is starting to look like a really bad move. This severely limits the leverage in any possible trades.

I hate seeing guys like Reggie Wayne getting injured. A great player and a real leader on the pitch, it would be awful if this was the end of the line for him. And at 34 Iā€™m afraid thatā€™s likely :frowning:

Iā€™m crying in my soup.

Disaster! Rumours are we could go ā€œAll inā€ on a trade for Hackeem Nicks but that would leave us on a Draft with virtually no pick.

Heyward-Bey is no Reggie and our receiving corps will be easier constrained without the threat of Reggie.

How quickly a great night can turn sour. Nothing is ever sure in this beast of a sport.

Nicks is overrated i think and would struggle as the primary. H-b is shot so need hilton to get the finger out, he has the ability. Fuck the draft, the chance to win it is there now. Larry fitz to indy, you heard it here first.

If the Colts are going all in this year, theyā€™d be better off going back to Cleveland and taking Josh Gordon off their hands. Heā€™s available for a second rounder if the rumours are true.

According to reports, Doug Martin sustained a labrum tear in his left shoulder Sunday and is likely out for the season.

Waivers will be busy this week

Torn ACL confirmed for Wayne :frowning:

Sam Bradford also done for the year with a torn ACL too

Cutler out for at least 4 weeks too, thatā€™s a savage blow for the Bears. Foles out with concussion, and the lunatics that run the game want to extent the regular season to 18 games:rolleyes:

Lunatics is right.
Youā€™d be left with second string players in the playoffs

A provisional mid-term Quarterback report, Iā€™ll publish the definitive list after week 8.

1-4
Peyton
Brees
Brady
Rodgers

These 4 set the standard, they and only they are the elite. It looked like Manning might have stolen a march but after last night the no 1 spot is up for grabs(although its noticeable that he was throwing excellently until the sack from Mathis that forced a safety). Heā€™s had serious weapons to throw to all year though and Brady and Rodgers up to this point have not.

5-7
Andrew Luck
Russel Wilson
Colin Kaepernick

If someone is going to join the Elite I suspect it will be one of these 3. Their are the forefront of the new rising generation of QB

8 Tony Romo
Is flat out balling this year, seems to be a bit more surefooted in his throwing, has the talent to win a SB no question but there will always be doubts until he and his Dallas Cowboys just go and do it.

9 Andrew Dalton
Has his critics but has thrown for 6 TDs and over 700 yards in his last 2 games, not bad going for a ginger, not bad at all althogh both victories came down to late FGs. Still, they were both on the road and Dalton and his 5/2 Bengals are getting the job done.

10 Phillip Rivers
Not done yet and a bit like Romo just seems to be throwing more intelligently than he has done this year.

11 Cam Newton
Their is a good Can and a bad Cam but weā€™ve been seeing more of the good Cam as of late and when heā€™s good, heā€™s very very good

12 Alex Smith
Will always be known as a good game manager rather than a great QB and thereā€™s no question Chiefs being 7-0 has more to do with itā€™s D than itā€™s O. Nevertheless they are 7/0 and Smith deserves an awful lot of credit

13-15
Matt Ryan
Joe Flacoo
Ben Roethlisberger
None have been setting the world alight this year but all likely to be serious tough nuts to crack if they make the playoffs

16 RG3
Has been showing signs lately but no question he has slipped some bit behind the rest of the rookie class from last year. I expect him to be top 10 before the year is out however

17 Matt Stafford
Been quietly going about his business in impressive manner this season but Lions suffered a crushing defeat yesterday that might linger for a while.

18 Jay Cutler
Still frustrating and inconsistent, suffered a big injury setback. Bears D been struggling lately too, they look further away from a SB than ever.

19 Geno Smith
Inconsistency is the curse of the rookie and Genoā€™s been no exception. Has delivered for Jets though and is giving them an amighty lift this season.

20 Micheal Vick
Is not the longterm solution for Philly and looks past his best at this stage

21 Eli Manning
The less said the better perhaps.

22-25
Jake Locker
Terrle Pryor
Sam Bradford
Ryan Tannehill
All these lads have shown glimpses of what they can do this season but inevitably revert to type espicially Tannehill whoā€™ll be fighting for his NFL future from here on. Bradfords injury couldnā€™t have come at a worse time for him.

26 Carson Palmer
A pick machine, heā€™s thoroughly exposed and just not up to it at this level.

27 Matt Schaub
Stick a fork in this guy, heā€™s done.

28 Gabbert/Henne
Whateverā€¦

NAā€™s
-Mike Glennon
Doesnā€™t stand a chance at the joke that is Tampa. Threw 2 beauties yesterday so clearly has talent.

  • Josh Freeman
Been fucked around at Tampa, could take him a few games to find his rhythm with his new offensive setup but has potential to move up rankings starting tonight.

EJ Manuel, Brian Hoyer
Injury fucked both of these in the same match just as they were beginning to announce themselves as serious operators.

Texans might have found a diamond in the rough with Case Keenum, he certainly looked the part last night, still to early to say though and if he doesnā€™t work out I expect them to be leading the charge for a new QB in the off season along with Cards, Jags and Philly.

Nick Foles, Christian Ponder and Ryan Fitzpatrick will be gutted to have not made that list.

Stafford only at 16?

On form this season Iā€™d have him ahead of Dalton, Newton, Alex Smith, Flacco, Rapistberger and arguably Rivers.

Needed to win that game at home yesterday. The fact heā€™s throwing to Calvin Johnson helps

Fair enough, but there arenā€™t 15 other QBs ahead of him on current form. For example, thereā€™s no doubting Brady is elite but heā€™s been far from it this year. In fact, Geno Smith is ranked higher thus far on the stats list so that says a lot.

Brady is hampered by poor or developing receivers and lack of a consistent rushing option so itā€™s far from all being his fault, though the return of Gronkowski will be a Godsend to him.

Alex Smith probably has the best O-Line in football right now with serious weapons and RB and WR. Other than that heā€™s a journeyman game-manager in the mould of Trent Dilfer.

Agree with you on Romo (better than heā€™s given credit for) and Schaub (heā€™s fucked). Both Dalton and Tannehill have the ability to become great but the guy whoā€™s really impressed me has been Luck. He canā€™t be considered elite until he gets it done in the playoffs but the mark of greatness is on him. This guy is the real deal.

Not sure about Tannehill but the rest is fair enough. Before we get too carried away about Luck check his 4th Q stats yesterday, 1 for 6 for -1 yard. Not exactly clutch and but for Ronnie Hillmans fumble Broncoā€™s would probably have won that game despite playing poorly by their own standards.
