šŸˆ Super Bowl XLVIII- The Path to Meadowlands
A provisional mid-term Quarterback report, Iā€™ll publish the definitive list after week 8.

1-4
Peyton
Brees
Brady
Rodgers

These 4 set the standard, they and only they are the elite. It looked like Manning might have stolen a march but after last night the no 1 spot is up for grabs(although its noticeable that he was throwing excellently until the sack from Mathis that forced a safety). Heā€™s had serious weapons to throw to all year though and Brady and Rodgers up to this point have not.

5-7
Andrew Luck
Russel Wilson
Colin Kaepernick

If someone is going to join the Elite I suspect it will be one of these 3. Their are the forefront of the new rising generation of QB

8 Tony Romo
Is flat out balling this year, seems to be a bit more surefooted in his throwing, has the talent to win a SB no question but there will always be doubts until he and his Dallas Cowboys just go and do it.

9 Andrew Dalton
Has his critics but has thrown for 6 TDs and over 700 yards in his last 2 games, not bad going for a ginger, not bad at all althogh both victories came down to late FGs. Still, they were both on the road and Dalton and his 5/2 Bengals are getting the job done.

10 Phillip Rivers
Not done yet and a bit like Romo just seems to be throwing more intelligently than he has done this year.

11 Cam Newton
Their is a good Can and a bad Cam but weā€™ve been seeing more of the good Cam as of late and when heā€™s good, heā€™s very very good

12 Alex Smith
Will always be known as a good game manager rather than a great QB and thereā€™s no question Chiefs being 7-0 has more to do with itā€™s D than itā€™s O. Nevertheless they are 7/0 and Smith deserves an awful lot of credit

13-15
Matt Ryan
Joe Flacoo
Ben Roethlisberger
None have been setting the world alight this year but all likely to be serious tough nuts to crack if they make the playoffs

16 RG3
Has been showing signs lately but no question he has slipped some bit behind the rest of the rookie class from last year. I expect him to be top 10 before the year is out however

17 Matt Stafford
Been quietly going about his business in impressive manner this season but Lions suffered a crushing defeat yesterday that might linger for a while.

18 Jay Cutler
Still frustrating and inconsistent, suffered a big injury setback. Bears D been struggling lately too, they look further away from a SB than ever.

19 Geno Smith
Inconsistency is the curse of the rookie and Genoā€™s been no exception. Has delivered for Jets though and is giving them an amighty lift this season.

20 Micheal Vick
Is not the longterm solution for Philly and looks past his best at this stage

21 Eli Manning
The less said the better perhaps.

22-25
Jake Locker
Terrle Pryor
Sam Bradford
Ryan Tannehill
All these lads have shown glimpses of what they can do this season but inevitably revert to type espicially Tannehill whoā€™ll be fighting for his NFL future from here on. Bradfords injury couldnā€™t have come at a worse time for him.

26 Carson Palmer
A pick machine, heā€™s thoroughly exposed and just not up to it at this level.

27 Matt Schaub
Stick a fork in this guy, heā€™s done.

28 Gabbert/Henne
Whateverā€¦

NAā€™s
-Mike Glennon
Doesnā€™t stand a chance at the joke that is Tampa. Threw 2 beauties yesterday so clearly has talent.

  • Josh Freeman
Been fucked around at Tampa, could take him a few games to find his rhythm with his new offensive setup but has potential to move up rankings starting tonight.

EJ Manuel, Brian Hoyer
Injury fucked both of these in the same match just as they were beginning to announce themselves as serious operators.

Texans might have found a diamond in the rough with Case Keenum, he certainly looked the part last night, still to early to say though and if he doesnā€™t work out I expect them to be leading the charge for a new QB in the off season along with Cards, Jags and Philly.
Are they rankings for this season or rankings for the future? If the former, I canā€™t see why Brady is so high, why Vick is so low and how Rivers can be behind Dalton. Vickā€™s passing has been as good as Bradyā€™s, thatā€™s even ignoring his contribution running the ball.

They are ranking for right now. Bradys game winning drive over Saints suggest heā€™s as good as ever and his stats ignore that Edelman is the only proven receiver heā€™s had to throw to all year. Vick hasnā€™t been too bad this year but Phillys victories came against the winless Giants and Tampa(with Foles) and Washington who were complete muck at the start of the season, theyā€™ve had their holes handed to them by serious outfits.

Rivers is one of the best passers in the game this year but Daltons has been effective too and as mentioned has been particularly excellent in his last 2 games both on the road.

Gerald Allens blindsided one-handed sack of Eli is the highlight of a limp 1st half at Meadowlands. Freeman is showing poorly enough so far, Peterson not helping much as he continues to struggle. This game is there for the Vikings however, theyā€™ll get the ball to open the 3rd, itā€™s 10-7 NY at the half

Giants special teams turn it over on their 30 yard line. Freeman throws it straight back to them. This is one pitiful game of football. Serious decision for the Vikes here their in with an obvious chance to win the game, do they bench Freeman who itā€™s just not happening for(Their TD came from a returned punt, their special teams has been Minnys only real positive tonight) and if they do who do they bring in in his place? A tough question to ponder for them indeed, sorry couldnā€™t resist:(

What was that I was saying about Minny Special teams? Theyā€™ve just fumbled the ball on their own 6 yard line. These are 2 of the sorriest teams that youā€™ll ever see

Hillis runs for the td

Minnesota doing their best to be a bigger joke than Sanchezā€™s Jets last thanksgiving as they fumble the ball AGAIN inside their own redzone from aGiants punt. Their D jsut about keeping the game alive tho as NY forced to kick the FG, they lead 23-7 with 11 to play

Freeman on his way to being cut in the morning. Whatever about taking time to adjust, heā€™s just been plain awful, overthrowing, underthrowing, getting sacked on 3rd downs to take them out of FG range, missing the simplest of throws and the ones he does actually make are getting dropped. Ponder and Cassel are looking on here going, ā€˜we might be shite but Come on manā€™
If I was a Viking Iā€™d be asking serious questions of my coaches for playing him and persisting with him for so long in what was a winnable game

Final score NY 23, Minnesota 7
Hard to believe thereā€™s a worse team in the NFL than Minny but they are running the Jags pretty close tonight. AP is as much a part of the problem as the solution this season.
Giants are complete gash too, their best player tonight was Josh Freeman. After that it was Peyton Hillis, probably the slowest running back of all time, says it all about tonightā€™s game. Philly will destroy them next week

Eli manning has one more victory that Peyton this weekā€¦just like in superbowls

But not based on just this season obviously, otherwise Brady wouldnā€™t be up there at all.

I think itā€™s more of an opinion piece than simply by the numbers.

Ah I know. I just wanted to establish the criteria before I decided whether I agreed with it or not.

Is it:

  • Who is playing best this season?
  • Who has played the best over their career?
  • Who youā€™d want on your team for the rest of the year?
  • Who youā€™d want on your team for the next 2-3 years?

This is important to me.

I understand. I would have Luck and Wilson ahead of Kapaernick, but thats just my opinion.

You need a holiday mate

Patriots re-sign Andre Carterā€¦

The board will be happy to know that both Amendola and Talib practiced today!

The regular season games in London next year are Oakland V Miami, Atlanta V Detroit and Jacksonville V Dallas. The Falcons V Lions game is very tempting, I think I will go over for that one.

yeah it looks like the only one worth going for anyway, Jags and Dallas is shite, and Miami and Oakland might have potential, but only coz they both are poor enough.

Is there no Red Zone on Sky Sports red button today?

Links anyone?

Cowboys really do lose far more spectacularly than anyone else
