SPOILER ALERT
Big cheating bastard condones cheating.
Big cheating bastard condones cheating.
Blandino said it was illegal, should’ve been 15 yards. He also said the delay of game on Carpenter’s made attempt was wrong.
Blandino is making it up as he goes along Walt Anderson is a hugely respected official and it’s disgusting seeing him undermined by this creep.
I don’t have a lot of respect for Blandino, but I thought I’d answer after you asked after what his verdict was. It was a dirty hit, I think it’d be blinkered to argue otherwise.
I haven’t followed up much in the aftermath of the game but knew Blandino was looking into it. I think Richard clearly went for the ball in order to stop the kicker having a free shot at the sticks, the whistle should have gone way before he got close to Carpenter. That was the big fuck up by the officials.
Bills had their chance to win the game though, 1st and goal with a minute left so they can’t complain too hard. The Seahawks have had plenty go against them this season, especially in New Orleans. But it’s swings and roundabouts.
It doesn’t really matter what his intentions were pal
Of course it does, there’s a massive difference between going for the ball and taking the kicker out with a direct hit.
He took the kicker out while going for the ball then, how does that change the fact he should have drawn a 15 yard penalty?
You’ll have to ask Walt Anderson about that.
Referees in general don’t take intent in to it as it is quite hard to interpret in some cases…
I really like Sherman, but it looked a little dirty to me and he could have done damage to Carpenter…
I don’t think saying the Bills had their chance comes in to it. If they were 3 points down rather than 6 it would’ve been different (I know the game might have played out differently as every subsequent situation would’ve been different, but that shows how the egregiously wrong call changed the game).
Him going for the ball doesn’t stop it being dirty either. He was aware of what he was doing, and its pretty obvious that colliding with a kickers planted leg during his kick could cause serious injury. Part of the skill of kick blocking (and part of your responsibility in doing so) is being able to make the block or put the kicker off without running in to him illegally.
That’s fair enough, I can’t argue about that. You’d have to be some trainspotting freak to understand completely the rules governing what happened. But the whistle should have gone earlier and Sherman simply played to the whistle making it very difficult for the zebras to call him for a personal foul. If he was bearing down on a QB the whistle would have went a lot earlier.
Sherman has been fined for the hit.
Also, the point about the whistle is wrong. It was offside, so there was no need to blow the whistle, it’s essentially a free play for the team with the ball, similar happens with QBs who on an offside flag can play on and make the play and decline the penalty. However, if the player who is offside takes out the QB in an illegal move, he will then be flagged for that, which is what should have happened Sherman.
I’m not sure if he is so clever in the fact of the ridiculous ruling which meant because Carpenter was injured, he then had to leave the field for the next play. Basically means you have free license to take out the kicker and he has to leave the field. Could be one of those great illegal moves that favours the defending team.
Indeed. But my point was that if it was Tyrod Taylor that Sherman was hurtling towards the play would have been blown dead pronto. Richard didn’t want Carpenter getting a free pop at the sticks, it was a great heads up play.
Whats the latest on Dion Lewis chaps? Will he play tomorrow night?
James White or Dion Lewis chaps. Who do i start?
I’d definitely go with White, Lewis is unlikely to see much ball today. But what do I know.
Ryan Mathews
Delanie Walker is ballin’
