Limerick will win that.
I’d imagine they’ll be favourites at home. Wexford bate them in the league and wasn’t much between them in the league final, but Limerick seem to be improving every week. So you’d be hopeful
Was it group winners getting the home quarter final or an open draw?
I caught the portion of The Sunday Game last night where they had highlights from the two Tunnock’s Tea Cakes Cup games from yesterday on.
Wexford 5-23 Antrim 2-21
Sligo 1-27 Carlow 2-19
They are NOT football scorelines. Well they are but they’re not.
Kildare Offaly is a lovely fixture.
Group winners get a home quarter. Call down the weekend and I’ll buy you a pint
I think its fair to say that the rule changes have had their desired effect… they have definitely opened up the games… That’s outrageous scoring, what you’d more expect to see in a hurling match. I wonder how many two pointers were scored in those games?
Just the one 2-pointer in the Sligo game, 8 of them in the Wexford game where there was a big wind blowing down the field. More goals than 2 pointers again yesterday
Strangely 3 of the strongest 4 teams in this competition all played preliminary quarter-finals over the weekend. I’d have put Westmeath, Offaly and Sligo directly in behind Kildare as competition favourites but only one actually topped the group. It meant the draw didn’t look too daunting at all for the weekends winners once they managed to avoid Kildare. Like Limerick and Wicklow spent the winter in division 4 and Fermanagh lost at home to Carlow about 3 weeks ago.
I don’t think Sligo will go any further especially away to Fermanagh.Limerick Kildare and Westmeath to go through to the semis.
Fermanagh lost at home to Carlow and wouldn’t have topped the group at all but for Carlow inexplicably losing to Longford. They took their time putting Wexford away in Croke Park too. I’d give Sligo a decent chance against them. They gave Mayo a good rattle after all.
Kildare beat Offaly 1-17 to 0-19 in the greatest monent in the history of the grand oul’ Tanita Tikaram Cup.
Tailteann Cup | QF
RESULT
Wicklow 2-18
Westmeath 2-17
That’s a fair turn-up
3 wins for the home teams so far. Winning margins of 2, 1 and 1
That’s some bad year for Westmeath.
I’d say they lost most of their games by a score so not far away from a great year. But the never getting over the line is obviously an issue
Laois exposed a few weaknesses last week.
Tbf Wicklow ran Dublin very close and beat Laois also. Oisin could really drive Armagh on when they finally get rid of McGeeney
Kicked the head off @Mac at the back of the Woodfield
Wexford 4 points up 4 mins gine and Limerick keeper Josh Ryan the only Limerick player to touch the ball
Limerick with four in a row, Wexford defence too loose
Wexford raced into an early lead playing with a strong wind, but Limerick playing great stuff since
Nasty nasty stuff , The attack on geezer is relentless
