Eldest wants to get a tattoo. Nothing out of the ordinary. Two butterflies on her arms. I actually have nothing against them. However she will be entering into either college or employment come September depending on her results and my fear is if she has to look for a job for a year, any potential employers might not take kindly to it. Genuine thoughts please. Right now I’m on the no side. But it is a soft no.
I’d severely doubt they’d care mike and surely a jumper or whatever would cover them?
Will she stop at just the one or in 10 years time is she likely to be covered in them?
Doubt it’s an issue now
Dunno.
i have “FUCK TIPP” across my knuckles and it’s never held me back
Simply not an issue anymore, I’m the only one in our house without. They’re 2 a penny nowadays
Two butterflies on her arm? How big is your caravan?
It’s not an issue Mike. The likelihood is they wouldn’t be visible at an interview anyway.
There are some sectors - more creative sectors - where it might actually be more of an advantage than a hindrance.
I’m not a fan myself but my Mrs has three of them (wrist, ankle and upper back) going back twenty years. Most of the time I’d forget she has them, bar when she’s togging off for a or whatnot
PS @iron_mike - is this your daughter who was a little body conscious about putting on a bit of weight? She might find the tattoo somewhat empowering, as it is her reclaiming her body on her terms. Hope that doesn’t sound mumbo jumbo. Basically don’t stand in her way!
Come back to me in 16 years time and I might say something different
If you were from tipp youd have enough knuckles for the erary
Not as big as your chest freezer
That’s why our hurlers are so wristy
Yup. I’m delighted to report she’s down a half stone and going well
Brilliant Mike. Well she deserves this treat then.
Sure she might regret it down the line, but fuck it, we all regret something.
I think tattoos are mank… Tell her hold off a year and if she still wants one you’ll pay for it. I’d personally slice it off my daughter’s arm if she came home with one…
+1
Not a fan but probably easier go with flow.
Once it’s relatively discreet they are no issue going forward imo.
Tell her no and that’s that. Nothing looks worse on a woman than a tattoo
Are you gonna take any of this advice seriously @iron_mike?
Are you looking for someone to sway your soft no? Does your daughter know the fate of her arms is in the hands of a bunch of internet weirdos
