It would definitely be a monkey peanuts situation, it’s actually bizarre in the extreme that a supposedly successful chap like yourself has so little respect for teachers that you would have them earn even less of a pittance than they already do.

Either or. Teachers can have their 3 months holidays and now get paid for them or they can work a 12 month year like every other sector.
Teachers earn more than nurses who in turn work much harder and longer in a more stressful jobs.

Would the level of education in Ireland be a factor in why so many companies do business here and foreigners like Italians are coming here in droves to get work? - Would the fact that Italian teachers are some of the worst paid in the world play into the latter?
Tis grand saying cut teaching money but who will then want to teach? We don’t want to be a backward economy like Italy - Education is the best thing we can invest in for our future - tis grand when immigrants like yourself piss off home, but we’ve to think of our kids and the future of our country.

I believe the starting salary is around 30k for a 9 month year. Higher than the majority of entry grade positions which are standard 12 month years.
