If there’s one thing I’ve learned from recent unfortunate news events, it’s that there’s an oppurtunity to make a real name for yourself on Twitter by creating a viral #hashtag in solidarity with the victims. This is what I will be doing full-time from now on.

Aside from #JeSuisCharlie, some gimp tried to follow on from the Phil Hughes #PutYourBatsOut tribute by taking a picture of his pen on a page with “#PutYourPensOut” scrawled across it.

My point was really as to why they commit outrageous acts of violence versus the IRA moving to a warning for bombs and it being down to public opinion in their respective constituencies that allows them to do it. They gain propaganda that serves their cause in cutting a head off on video whereas IRA arrived at a position where they damaged their cause amongst their community if they killed civilians in a bomb. There are different sensibilities in the West and in the as I called it the Islamic World.

People want black and white answers. They don’t have time to think about the whole thing. They have work, kids, sky sports to watch, drinking to be done etc etc

By True free speech do you mean the ability to spout any old hateful nonsense? Satire is, particularly in the cartoon form, miles away from that and a tool that challenges ideas and concepts that makes us look at how we behave. There’s a massive, massive difference… And It’s not as if It’s a new concept, we’ve been using it for 100s of years.

A correspondent on the Sean O’Rourke show on radio said the suspects had been located in a petrol station. O’Rourke interrupted an item about the price of petrol to talk to the correspondent.

Given that so much of the grievances of the “Islamic World” stem from a perceived war for oil, I find this very eerie indeed. We are through the looking glass here, people.

This is apparently what located means;

AFP reported a source who said two men fitting the description of brothers Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi were seen by the manager of a petrol station near Villers-Cotteret in the northern Aisne region, east of Paris, this morning.

Le Parisien said the men were driving a Renault Clio in the direction of Paris and weapons could be seen inside the vehicle.
