Windies not going at all well in day1 of the second test in Adelaide - they’re 3/88 with Dougie Bollinger already taking Gayle and Barath, Sarwan went to Johnson. Chanderpaul is really their only hope of a decent total now. Nash, Bravo and Ramdin will have to fire. I can see them going for less than 200, in which case we could be looking at another 3 day test.
Bugger, Brendan Nash is gone off injured now after being struck on the elbow. He was going well, did well in the first test.
You have to wonder about Gayle. Opening batsman, off 23 balls scores 26 with 1 six and 4 fours and a strike rate of 113, then caught out.
Thats just plain silly, especially on a batting friendly pitch like Adelaide. Great if you’re playing 20/20, but this is a test and not only is he an opener, but captain as well.
Great player and everything, but he’s a terrible captain and an even worse opener.
A shocking decision against Chanderpaul. In the seemingly never ending litany of dodgy hometown decisions in Australia’s favour, that was as bad as I’ve ever seen. The ICC really have to do something about this.
It’s a recurring theme with this Australian side in recent years so I wouldn’t single Bollinger out. A more despicable collection of cricketers would be difficult to find.
450 a decent total for the Windies, possibly a bit below par at Adelaide. I’d like to take credit for predicting this, but Bravo was the one member of the top six that I didn’t think would score heavily! However, as expected, their limp attack is being punished. I’d say there’s every possibility the Aussies will bat til around tea on day 4 and have four sessions to bowl them out then. And yes, Bollinger was a disgrace.
NZ did what they do. They collapsed. They’re very prone to doing that.
India will be crowned number one Test team tomorrow. I still reckon SA are slightly better than them, though there’s not much between them and they’re definitely the top two now. Any thoughts?
Bollinger will need to be a lot more subtle about his cheating if he is to survive and prosper with that lot. The rest of the Australians didn’t even get involved as they knew they couldn’t pull off that one.

WI’s best batting total in years. Australia still having problems bowling at tails, like in England this year.
India are the best batting side no doubt but they play on flat tracks all the time.
Surprisingly good first session in Adelaide. Aussies 252/3 at lunch. Benn bowled through the session, picked up two early wickets and looked generally good. First time I’ve seen Roach bowl too. I was certainly impressed. Hopefully they can keep it up for the rest of the day.
Yes it was a very good day’s play from the WIndies. Was very impressed with Roach as well. Reminds me a lot of Malcolm Marshall. If he turns out to be half as good, the WIndies will have found a good one.
If they bat well today, WIndies will be in a good position to force a result. Chris Gayle really needs to produce a long overdue test innings of substance.
More cheating by the Aussies (I think). Barath run out backing up, but I don’t think Hauritz touched the ball. Still, he put up a huge appeal and Barath is out. It may have brushed his foot, but I don’t think it did. Disgraceful scenes if it didn’t.
Sarwan out now too. Good start for the Aussies. I reckon this partnership between Gayle and Chanderpaul has to reach three figures. Gayle looks like he could do damage if he stays in for a while.
WI 296 ahead with 2 wickets left end day 4. Gayle no 155. Presumably not enough time to force a result for WI but need to be careful in first session not to give Oz a chance of making a target, they could knock off 300 odd in a day.
Should be a great days cricket today in Adelaide. I think both teams will be looking to win and both have a decent chance. An outstanding innings by Gayle, a massive improvement on his silly first innings and stupid batting in Brisbane.
Australia will want to clean up the final 2 wickets very quickly this morning. Amazing to think that the outcome of the final day will hinge a lot on a 6 foot 7 left arm West Indian spinner. Seuileman Benn was great in the first innings and Roach was impressive too.
I really hope the Windies win this one, they’ve played very well, it would be a massive boost for them, they really seem to have finally come together as a team during this test.
Bollinger has been an utter prick during it. His petulant display yesterday (albeit after a shockingly bad LBW decision) only makes him look like more of a fool.
I liked Brian Lara’s comment last week, that Australia takes mediocre talent and turns them into great cricketers, while the Windies take great talent and turns them into mediocre cricketers.
India top of the rankings, but amazing to think that they will not play a home test for the next 2 years!
[quote=“Fitzy”]Windies all out, Gayle finished 166 NO.
Target is 330 for Australia, they did something similar in 2007 in Adelaide on the last day, though that was against inferior opposition.

If its the Ashes test on the 2006/07 series you’re referring to, you’re unsurprisingly badly off with your stats again. Australia chased down a target of 168. Half of what they have to chase down here.
