You’re so predictable Manuel
What’s predictable is the rubbish wicket that’s served up year in year out in Adelaide.
I’m only having a lend of you Manuel, I agree, it’s alaways been a batting wicket, even now it’s a drop in. But in saying that, India’s bowling hasn’t been great and their fielding yesterday was terrible, missing stumpings and dropped catches all over the place. Good century by Michael Clarke, considering his injury woes, excellent (ongoning) knock for his fifth test century by Steve Smith. A lot of concern that Clarke will not be available for the Gabba test next week. Given Haddin’s form slump and Smith’s maturing as a significant player in the side, many calls for Smith to be made captain next week if Clarke isn’t there. I’d certainly support that. He’s the captain in waiting.
Surely Clarke will declare before start of play today? Rain affected yesterday, so early starts for the rest of the series. Will be interesting to see how Johnson and Harris will go on this wicket. Siddle has to produce, his place under serious threat.

ngs from Mitch Marsh here.[/QUOTE]
Warner is one of the best sportsmen around
Great high jinks between Warner and the Indian fielders earlier on.
I’ll tune in next week for the Brisbane test. I checked the score there this morning and I see India have to bat out the final day for a draw. Unless they implode, that shouldn’t be any great problem on a typically docile Adelaide wicket.
India have been making a good fist of chasing down the 364 victory target. Now on 309/7, 55 more needed with 15 overs left. Floundering now, they’ve lost 5 wickets in the last 14 overs the last one being the big wicket of Kohli who scored 141 and Australia should scramble home from here. Lyon has taken 6 of the 7 Australian wickets today. Fasts have been ineffective all day and new ball which became available 3 overs ago still hasn’t been taken.
India were bowled out for 315. Victorious Australian captain Michael Clarke has been ruled out of the rest of the series after injuring his hamstring and says there is a chance he may never play again.
Fair play to the Aussies they never gave up hope.
They are playin for something alot more important to them.
deep man, so deep
Pretty astonishing last session, wonderful win for Michael Clarke and Australia, especially given the context. Kudo’s to India too for how they played, especially Kohli. @Manuel Zelaya - has there been a test where almost 1500 runs were scored, that two batsmen scored centuries in both innings, that a bowler took a michelle in both innings that did not end in a draw before?
So Clarke has done his right hammy now and is out for the rest of the series. Likely to miss the WC also. He’s talking like he’s played his last game for Australia. Which would be a great pity.
Cricket Australia actually did the right thing this morning and appointed Steve Smith as captain for the rest of the series. Averaging over 50 in his last 18 tests since his recall, he’s matured into a very good test cricketer. Plenty of leadership experience and definitely the one to take over from Clarke permanently, absolutely the right choice to make.
Second test just started at The Gabba. India have won the toss and elected to bat. Dhoni is back for India.
Ryan Harris injured, my good friend Mitchell Starc in for him. Peter Siddle unsurprisingly dropped, Josh Hazelwood makes his debut. Shaun Marsh joins his brother Mitch in the team as cover for Michael Clarke.

Hazelwood looked decent first up. No early breakthrough from the Aussies though, usually important at the Gabba. Hopefully Kohli’s two knocks in the last game will inspire the Indians to make this series competitive.
First Saffer Windies Test starting tomorrow. Saffers should have way too much for them.
India 3/137 with Kohli just gone after lunch. Hazelwood bowling very well, 2/18 after 11 overs, his first test wicket dodgy in that it looked like it hit the helmet of Pujara (no DRS!), but no question about the Kohli wicket. Vijay going well on 72.
Mitch Marsh has his first test wicket also, Dhawan for 24.
Good batting effort from India on Day 1. Their batting so far this series has been surprisingly resolute even in losing in Adelaide. A bit of work still to be done though. They need to get that score up past 450. Mitchell Johnson has been surprisingly quiet so far this series.
The WIndies efforts with the ball after electing to bowl in very favourable conditions in Centurion are too depressing to comment even further on. What I did enjoy when watching it over lunch was the dip into the archives from their one off test at the Kensington Oval in 1992 - South Africa’s first test on their return to the test arena after a 20 year absence. South Africa had the edge throughout the first four days and going into Day 5 were on 122/2 chasing a target of 201 to inflict a first defeat on the WIndies at their Barbados fortress since 1935. Courtney & Curtley set to work right from the off on Day 5 and within an hour it was all over, South Africa slumping from 123/2 to 148 all out with the two boys halving the 8 wickets between them.
Never unpleasant watching SA get taken down a peg or two in anything.
4/311 at close of play at the Gabba, Vijay with an excellent and determined 144. Aussie bowlers dropping like flies, Micth Marsh (hammy), Starc (heat stress and some problem with his ribs), Hazelwood (hammy), Johnson (knackered seemingly) all came off the pitch at various points. Hopefully they’ve rested enough and the pitch will speed up today. BUt India re batting very very well, could be in for another cracking test.
Looks like a duckshoot a Centurion.

Marsh is done for the match, from a bowling perspective anyway. Hazlewood opening the bowling, he looked decent yesterday.
