Yes. 177/0 & 215/1 to 253/5, still 97 runs off New Zealand’s total is a disappointing. Good to see Adam Lyth get a century. He’ll be opening the batting with Captain Cook for the Ashes now.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been dropped for the upcoming Frank Worrell series which starts on Wednesday. He’s just 87 runs shy of overtaking Brian Lara as the Windies record run scorer. A few weeks shy of 41, he may not get the chance now to emulate that particular landmark.
Ballance against the new ball
The Mitches might have fun with him.
I wouldn’t say they are giving him much thought. His early wicket is a given. He needs taking out of the firing line or they will destroy him.
Another worrying feature for England is their brainless efforts at getting out the tail. Captain Cooke must take responsibility here. If he had any track record of that though, he’d have resigned after the belly showing shambles he presided over in Australia.

You need express pace like Mitch or a decent spinner to remove a tail efficiently.
Agreed. But not bowling Anderson at them at all, and telling broad and stokes to lash away with a string of short pitched bowling was brainless.
Ps that new lad for England bowled a 92 mph ball so he is quick. I caught Simon jones discussing it, and he felt it was very poor. He said that when he bowled at the tail, he always aimed for the top of off stump as usual, and that a short ball or a Yorker should be a surprise ball, not a stock delivery.
Will NZ win the second test?
That is a truly shocking piece of news, Manuel.
If they are declaring at lunch tomorrow they certainly won’t be losing it anyway. Five sessions should be enough.
England set 454 to win. NZ declared 8 wickets down. They battered England this morning.
England 44/0. Its raining and there’s a good bit of rain over the next two days, so England’s good start in their world record run chase could all come to nothing.
Eng 78-4 Red Rover
fuck me, have you ever called a cricket game correctly?
There’s a call/prediction made there?
Any sign of you two months on calling this one yet?
More like you can’t come up with one, because there isn’t another one and you’ve been caught out with your bullshitting.
Going into the 2010 General Election, there was a good bit of comment on the fact that just 13 of the 92 clubs in the football league were in CUP constituencies. Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Fulham were the only 3 out of those 13 to have played in the EPL at that stage. Alok Sharma took Reading West back for the CUP in 2010. Labour had held it since 1997. In fact, Reading West is the quintessential bellwether as since its creation in 1983, its elected a candidate from the winning party in all 7 general elections.

Enlighten me so?
I make it Chelsea - CUP, Burnley Lib Dem and to the best of my knowledge the other 18 sides are all in Labour constituencies. I could well be wrong on that, but am interested to hear what you have to say.
Geographically, I’m a little bit more hazy on some of the London constituencies but I’m reasonably sure that Crystal Palace are in Croydon North and QPR is in Hammersmith, both currently held by Labour.
Not exactly a batting friendly pitch at Roseau. Windies skittled for 148 and the flat track bullies 85-3 at the close of Day 1. Adam Voges on 20 in his debut, after Chris Rodgers sustained a hit to the head in the nets and was ruled out. Another member of Dads Army, but Voges has been playing incredible domestic cricket this year. Shaun Marsh as flaky as ever, just don’t think he’s a long term option. Steve Smith promoted to 3, a good decision given his form (he took a wicket off one wicket as well). The bullies should be able to make 250 in which case they should comfortably win well within the 5 days. In fairness, the bowling and fielding by Australia looked top drawer.
Ireland meanwhile are flying at the Village in the ICC Intercontinental Cup against the UAE, 1st innings total of 492, Ed Joyce with 231 (!) with the UAE 207 / 8 in their innings so far. Any of you been at it?
