Nathan Lyon was within a whisker of getting dropped after a torrid 2016. It’s some turnaround.

India off to a cracking start in their second innings, 34-0 after 8 overs, coming up to lunch. Australia have to get some wickets today to stop India getting away with this. They lost 4 for 7 runs earlier.
110/2 now, a lead of 20. It’s nicely poised. Kohli is batting.

Crucial 5th wicket partnership here for India. They’ve moved from 120/4 to 186/4, a lead of 99. 11 overs left today.
India back in the driving seat with a 126 run lead and 6 wickets remaining, Pujara going along nicely on 79. So Australia have to get wickets and get them early on Day 4, if they have any hope it’s to keep India within a 200 run target, but I’d say that’s unlikely now, as the pitch slows. The only ever successful test run chase at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium came in 1998 when Australia ran down 194 runs.
It’s delicately poised, but could get away from Australia very quickly.
It’s a four test series btw chaps, I’ve never quite understood why a series would be made up of an even number of tests.

India all out for 274. We go into lunch Day 4 with Australia needing 188 runs to win the test. Eminently gettable.
