Awful shot from Carberry, cheap wicket.
Collected on Carberry walking just waiting on a quick exit for Root and Ill turn over to the boxing…everyone having a drink now in unison with the players??
Sir Geoffrey Boycott informing TMS listeners that Kim Basinger is 60 today.
“That very nice man who got Katy Perry to ring up and send me a nice message in the summer, if you could just do the same for Kim Basinger.”
Sir Geoffrey’s thoughts once again turn to the former wife of Russell Brand:
“She doesn’t know what she’s in for, Katy.”
KP & Beet Tops doing okay here.
Root & Pietersen partnership standing at 45 and England are at 65/2 for lunch. If these two can stick together for most of today, the draw could come into focus yet.
My god…
@maroonandwhite , after 2 + days defending your wicket. You got done with a slow ball.

Was Carberry out during the shipping forecast?
If Australia had gotten Broad on strike to Johnson towards the end I think it could have been over last night. One more wicket and they’ve had got the half hour extra.
Should still be wrapped up by lunchtime. Plenty of time to sing the song after.
Would expect Australia to wrap it up within an hour. What’s the story on rain? There was talk of some being likely last night and again tonight, but none materialised last night. Only close to a full day washout can save England from here.
An improvement of sorts from England, at least Root, Pietersen & Prior occupied the crease for some time and showed more resolve. If that’s a signpost that they’re snapping out of whatever malaise has been affecting them, they’ll have every chance even in Perth. If not and they revert to the rubbish that has been served up for most of the first two tests, they’ll be buried in 3 days in Perth.

I stand by my remarks but the abuse of that fairly knowledgeable poster was out of order. Calling out the other delusional fool who doesnt really understand any sport, certainly not cricket, hurling or nfl, was long coming. Pitch doesnt seem to be crumbling in Adelaide anymore!

Expecting an odd shower but not much. If Broad and Prior can score a few runs tonight, frustrate the bowlers and get a bit of confidence it might have carry over into Friday. (A bit like Broad and Swann in leeds in 2009 I think). And if the top order eliminate the brainfarts when batting.
Broad pissed away his wicket, England 7 down & depending on Swann-Prior to dig this one out.
Prior has just reached his 50. PP in running had a Draw @ 22/1 after Broad’s wicket fell, currently 12/1. Can these bottler’s hold on?
Mounting talk of Boyd Rankin possibly starting in Perth. England do need to shake things up, he has height but would have reservations that he’s up to test standard.
on current form you could say that about most if not all england’s current batting line up
Fair play to him if he does, didn’t think he had much chance of making the Test team after he threw his lot in with them. Are they considering an all-pace attack for Perth I wonder? Bresnan will surely play. Swann wouldn’t be any loss on current form anyway.
I expect they will go with the same batting line up now that Prior scored a 50 but it might not be the right decision. Swann could well be dropped, Monty took 5 wickets on Ashes debut in Perth 7 years ago. But if Swann is part of the clique he may not be dropped. Who would you drop for Bresnan? Stokes didn’t do too badly.
Stick with swann I’d say. At least he can bat a bit. I really hope Boyd rankin gets a go. Can he bat at all I wonder? They badly need an all rounder but I’d say this england side are just on the brink of transition. Wonder have they any good young lads.
Swann hasn’t scored much in a while though. They have this fast bowler Tymal Mills who is supposed to be a bit quick. Stokes probably one for the future. Ballance to bat around five. James Taylor got discarded pretty quickly. No sure KP will hang around much longer. I wonder will George Dockrell declare for them?
You wouldn’t blame him if he did. There’s worse ways of making a living I’d say. They badly need a tyro and someone to replace swann. At this stage you wonder if they shouldn’t draw a line under the baggage kp brings and go back to the drawing board. (after the ashes I mean, not much point now).
It’s interesting that the lads over here I know who would have an interest in the cricket lose it completely once England start getting beaten. They aren’t bad losers, it’s just that they aren’t that bothered either. They like beating the Aussies at anything rather than winning at cricket in itself.
