He’s had a lot of trouble with his elbow over the past two years and has been a much diminished player since having elbow surgery earlier this year. Its a sensible decision.
Best English spinner I’ve ever seen by a mile, somewhere in the bottom half of a top ten worldwide over the last 20 years I’d suppose. Always seemed like a bit of a cunt though, and to be honest I’m delighted his career has ended with him cowering out of the end of an Ashes series having been carted to all ends of Australian pitches for a month.
Elbow fucked I’d say. Should never have played I wonder did he do the Galway goalie on it. More understandable in this case maybe as the groceries depended on it.
Thought he would see the series out. Might be the right decision to leave it to Monty as the immediate replacement. But i think it looks weak. He comes across as a knob sometimes. He was the first one over to shake Agar 's hand after getting out for 98 in the summer though.
Harmison was speculating this morning that he was dropped for the fourth test so called it a day then. It does look weak/selfish though.
Monty was the better spinner in Adelaide and possibly would have gone the nod for the MCG. Graeme was a champion cricketer in his pomp, but injuries have caught up with him and its the correct decision to retire now. Australian wickets are all about pace and bounce and coupled with the kockaburra ball they use, swing and spin and a lot of the subtleties of the game are redundant down there.
Saffers need 159. Four wickets down and 39 overs left. Cracking finish in store and I’m gonna be stuck on a cunting train.
Record run chase a real possibility at the wanderers. Excellent controlled hundred for faf, draw should be safe, time to push on.
360/4 now. Target down to 98.
15 overs left. South Africa need 69 runs. 6 wickets in hand
De Villiers with a century. His wife would get it in a heartbeat!
De Villiers gone for 103. South Africa still in a very strong position though and you would expect them to still push on and get the win
JP Duminy gone now. Huge wicket, clean bowled by Shami.
Test match cricket:clap:
It will be interesting to see do South Africa go for this nowor just opt to see it out for the draw. They need 51 runs with 4 wickets in hand
Philander starting to put the foot down here. 22 runs needed with just over 4 overs left
South Africa should do this now. Effectively a one-day scenario.
Looks like it alright. They need 15 off 20 balls.
Sensational throw - that looked out on the live viewing
Great bit of fielding there. Huge wicket, Du Plessis gone for 134. Getting a standing ovation as he walks back to the pavilion
That wicket has slowed South Africa, they need to get Philander on strike. They need 16 from 13 balls
