TFK Hurling Team of the last 20 years - Corner backs

:joy:

No, he insulted me once and I still harbour a grudge against the fat headed cunt

Never heard of him

This is fair interesting one

several serious contenders

Is it fair comment that Mick Kavanagh was consistency personified for Kilkenny and took to the senior inter county standard that bit handier than Jackie Tyrell

He was fair tidy, Kavanagh - job done with minimum of fuss

I am going Kavanagh and Canning. Though about Sherlock, Brian Murphy, Jackie as well

No questions about Number 4 - Ollie Canning. Best corner back I’ve ever seen.

Would pick a specialist right corner back as opposed to two Number 4’s.

Paul Murphy in the right corner.

Jackie and Ollie by a country mile.

Just an oversight I’d say.

It’s a sign

Ollie was a fairly decent standard intercounty corner forward before he converted to defence. Could you imagine Jackie Tyrell trying to play corner forward at intercounty level

Canning and Wayne Sherlock for me

Yeah but JT was a warrior. Is a warrior.

Ive gone for the goat and paul murphy here, while barrett is very good murphy has been the unsung hero on that kk team for a decade. Quality + longevity. Is that even a word. Who knows.

I admire a man you can hold a grudge, 'tis a noble trait. I’ve been trying it for a lifetime.

Ah that’s outrageous.

I’ve heard via @Bandage that he’s very upset.

Murphy was outstanding 2011-2015 but has been no better than average since

Thats plenty outstanding for this i think

Fair enough call based on those years but he has dropped off a lot since

Yes but thats more than say barrett, two all stars and yhoty, and finn so far. In five years time might be different, especially if portlaoise prison can enter a team in the laois championship

Yeah I said its a fair enough call

Barrett has been pretty much consistently excellent since he started out in 2014 mind you, leaving aside injuries/disciplinary issues. Its easier to win All Stars when your county wins the All Ireland also, as Kilkenny did in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 when Paul Murphy deservedly won All Stars

In fairness, Limerick have only really had one season in the past forty years, so it’s fair enough that they judge on that. Sean Finn the greatest CB in the past twenty years? That’s funny enough, then slippy hickey gets a nomination for playing about four good games.
