He has also dreadful positional sense and makes some retarded decisions to press the ball. The handful of times I’ve watched him in games live his performances have been riddled with errors.
In the Euros for instance, he made a shocking error against Holland for Van Persie’s goal, selling himself to a dummy 35 yards out the pitch, getting turned and leaving Van Persie to run into 15 yards of space to which he scored. He also made a dreadful error in injury time where he allowed a routine ball over the top to undo him and Van Persie really should have equalised. Then against Italy in the semi, Cassano made an absolute cunt of him - he turned him inside out and continually dragged him out to the left flank and played allowed Marchisio to run off him - remember the mistake he made for Balotelli’s first? Then there was the last game against Madrid where he gifted Madrid a goal out of nothing and he was lucky tonight, he was really fortunate for the Higuain chance early on where he inexplicably allowed Higuain to peel off him, he look vulnerable to the ball over the top all night long and improved during the game only because Madrid kept trying to played through a congested middle.
The lad has nothing between his ears at all. Subotic, in contrast, is a solid defender from what I’ve seen of him.
