That's it ! everybody in RTE should be executed forthwith

Funny that because when anybody questions Trump about any of his many thousands of lies you want them censored.

Almost like you’re a shameless shill for paedo-Nazis.

What were the facts she was wrong on?

It’d be great to have Tubs back.

Time for the witch hunt to end.

The issue is she stated her claims were based on facts. Her exact quote was “there is more crime amongst Irish people than our Immigrant community, that is just a fact”.
Outside of the obvious per capita issue, she has no way of knowing if this is true, as the government doesn’t publish any data on crime by demographics.
So she just made it up and claimed it as a fact.

20 - 25% of our prison population were born outside the state

The IPS are 2 years behind on their data but at least they publish

Its interesting that the numbers of non native are so high when you consider our liberal judges are less willing to impose custodial sentences on non nationals

That agrees with most EU countries that actually collect and publish data.

Denmark is probably the best comparison, similar population to ireland and similar very low historical crime rates, especially violent crime. Their non western immigrant population make up just over 10% of the population yet commit 30% of violent crime and 32% of rapes.

It should be emphasized that immigrants in general do not commit crime at higher rates than native populations, the issue is with immigrants from countries where violent crime and sexual crime is endemic. The wokies will be on now to claim that it’s racist to say that, even though its simply factual.

So even the open racist wanted by the FBI, who comes from a country where violent crime is endemic, and who supports a rapist (which shows how serious he takes sexual crime) admits Holly Cairns is correct.

Lolz.

Sorry, I didn’t see the interview but isn’t that what you said she said?

“Holly Cairns is correct, but I don’t like her because I have woke on the brain, so even though she’s right, she’s wrong.”

No, she said there is more crime “amongst” Irish people than the immigrant population. That’s simply not true, the evidence from prison statistics and convictions suggest non nationals to Irish is about 2:1. Which is consistent with other EU countries.

My point you are referencing is that “in general” immigrants do not commit crimes at higher rates than native populations, I would even say “most” immigrants, but there are subgroups that commit crimes at much higher rates, which skews the numbers for non nationals.

Help me out here, genuinely interested, I have a classroom full of miniature headbangers who come out with that stuff on steroids

The quote I put up seems to suggest that immigrants don’t commit more crime but then you said that they dominate the prison population

I didn’t say immigrants dominate the prison population, what I said was some sub groups of immigrants skew the numbers against non nationals. Regardless of the country in western Europe (there are no reliable Irish statistics), immigrants “in general” do not commit more crime than native populations, some sub groups are higher, others are lower. So for example migrants within the EU generally do not drive up crime rates. However, there are some subgroups of immigrants that commit higher rates of crime, in particular violent crime ,that results in convictions and prison sentences, and this skews the non national numbers.

As far as I know (on limited data) in Ireland for example the higher rates are from eastern Europeans, Lithuanians and Romanians for example, and “others” whoever they are, with rates of prison occupancy 2:1 to 3:1 that of Irish born. But I haven’t seen any reliable statistics as the Irish government publish almost nothing on the subject.

You can find the data online for Sweden and Denmark who publish crime statistics, and have concluded that when you accept significant numbers from countries where violent crime and sexual crime is endemic, you are likely to see an increase in such crimes.

In short, immigrants from countries with similar crime statistics to ourselves (very low) have similar or lower crime rates, immigrants from countries with high crime rates have higher crime rates among their populations. The reasons for this are obviously complex, but it has nothing to do with race.

That’s a fair post, I have no reason to doubt what you said.
What specifically bothered you about Holly Cairns comments?

The statement that crime rates amongst Irish people is higher than immigrants, which has no basis in fact and obfuscates the real issue that people have genuine concerns about migrants from high crime countries when we have no idea who they are or what they are fleeing, if anything.

Isn’t this contrary to your last post, you can call me a thick cunt now

You seem to be struggling with the term “in general”. If you take the entire population of immigrants, crime rates are similar to the native population. If you break it down into sub groups, some groups of immigrants are higher (by factors of 2-3:1), some are lower.

So for example in Denmark, which actually has published data, non western immigrants commit one third of the violent crime and rapes, even though they are 10% of the population. In the overall numbers this is balanced out by immigrants from other countries who have lower crime rates (immigrants “in general” commit lower levels of crime).

Did Holly Cairns contradict any of that or are you more concerned with what she didn’t say?

She didn’t elaborate as Kielty didn’t ask any follow up questions, or challenge what she said. So beyond her “the Irish are worse than the immigrants”, I have no idea what she believes.

This is beginning to feel like an extension of the Ballymaloe discussion where you’re going to bat for the Cork celebrity :joy:

Nasty thing to say

Have the junior Headbangers you teach become much more racist over the last few years? Incredibly depressing if so. I used to have a lot of dealings with a similar demographic of kids about ten years ago and there was very little outward racism and any of it was nipped in the bud very quick.
