The 125 greatest stars of the GAA

Any interest in a greatest 1-15 of all time made up of players who never won a provincial title. I’m thinking stephen lucey, John galvin and gary Brennan.

Declan Browne, Mattie Forde and Kevin O’Brien would be in the mix in the forward line anyway.

Hon Jacko. A Rolls Royce of a player

Yet couldn’t make the team of the millennium.

Nonsense alright.

Tommy Murphy should be joint number 1 beside Jacko

Brehent was very defensive there in the Indo this morning. Borderline cuntish.

@anon67715551 you take the 50s.

My old man reckoned philly grimes was one the best hurlers he ever saw…

Your old man was a good judge of a hurler.

An earlier incarnation of the 1989 semi final. Galway starting a row they couldn’t finish.

A mini-peek at the 1957 football final shows Paddy Harrington (father of Pawdrig) scoring a fine point. The only decent overhead catch of the day that I remember was made by the same Paddy although not shown on the reel.

More to follow.

I only found out today that the great John Joe Reilly died from a football related incident. I knew he died young but didn’t realise what happened.

I wonder if it was similar to Philly McGuinness?

Good players may come and good players may go.

But we’ll ne’er have another like the gallant John Joe
