They played Bohs in Dalymount in the early 80s. Carnage would be an accurate enough description alright.
Imagine the hype, be unreal.
Surely there would be no benefit to Scottish football to do this, unless you had Cardiff and Swansea involved.
The likes of hearts in the second tier of the Scottish League would be a far bigger club than anything in Ireland and Wales
Maybe Cardiff and Swansea would get involved.
There would still be more money in whatâs left of the English league system

Things are gonna get fucking tasty baby.
The Irish, Welsh and Scottish teams which donât make the European qualifiers could look to set up a cup competition. Might add a bit of extra revenue and give teams a cup to play for. Hard to see who would be willing to bank roll it and whether the clubs would treat it half way seriously.
That wouldnt work anyway. Big Scotish clubs would be a must.
Youâre living in dream land⌠The big clubs from every league heading to a super league and you think Celtic and Rangers will be looking to join a Celtic league to play Newport and LimerickâŚ
How would anyone else compete with Celtic or Sevco?
The only chance of the Scots getting involved in any kind of Celtic League would be if Celtic and Sevco fucked off to England
should someone tell the footix there is no such club as Limerick in the LOI?
Pat will have them back next year.
Youâd imagine TV and sponsorship money would be much improved. All clubs would improve then. Hearts are a big club alright, but thereâs an amount of Mickey Mouse clubs there outside of the 5 or 6. Ross County, Hamilton, Livingstone, St Johnstone all average less than 4k at their matches.
Youâd imagine in this format, Rovers, Bohs, Derry, Cork, Linfield etc could quickly exceed that level
I doubt it. Take the bottom six out of the SPL and replace them with the cream of Wales and Ireland and you arenât really brining anything new in terms of fan numbers/attendances.
It would be a boost to Irish and Welsh football but do nothing for Scottish football.
Cardiff, Swansea, two Dublin and two Belfast teams joining up with the Scottish League might work but again would be most likely destined to fail
You are assuming in the new league nothing has changed, but in reality everything would have changed, more sponsorship money and more TV money. The Irish and Welsh clubs would attract new investors, could afford higher wages, so better players etc etc. Scotch Football is in big trouble. Celtic and Rangers are no longer at the top table of European football.
A Dublin Football Franchise at last.
Realistically they would still be competing for league one standard players/wages though even with a bump in money. A joint domestic league isnât going to move the needle compared to sustained European football prize money.
Agreed, it might be a small step forward though.
