Yeah they’ve been dreadful. Content to be beaten and gave up defending completely a long time ago. Impressive movement from Dublin still, but it’s easy for them.
Dublin should really have 4 or 5 goals scored at this stage. Scoreline is flattering Louth and their terrible workrate and attitude
This game was as useful to Dublin as the hurling last night. A waste of time. At least there was a bit of atmosphere in Tullamore, playing games like these two in Croker is insanity.
+1.
Delighted we got back to winning ways after that capitulation against Cork in the last league match.
Good that Dublin won too.
I thought that was a cracking game of football between Wexford and Longford.
+1
A fine game of football with plenty of kicking in it. Longford would have been hard done by not to take something from it. They’re not a bad team at all and i think will do Wexford the next day…
I think Wexford will win the replay and that will benefit their preparation for Dublin hugely. I’d also prefer Dublin have a real test and I wouldn’t write the result of a semi-final tie against Wexford as a foregone conclusion. I imagine Longford would freeze playing Dublin in Croke Park but that won’t be the case with Wexford who by now are well used to playing there against Dublin, who learned the square root of fook all today against U-12 standard opponents.
Bizarre. Neutrals implying Wexford’s shambolic effort today would be in any way acceptable. We were embarrassing.
Kerry were absolute shit against Longford and Sligo in 2009 so that says it all about whether they should be written off yet.
Between '04 and '08 you had two great teams. Now there are no great teams.
But between '04 and '08 the second tier of teams was weaker than it is now. We’ve gone from having two standout teams to seven or eight formidable or very formidable but not great teams. The potential for any of those teams to beat each other is there and the possibility of Kerry being able to use their class to coast through quarter-finals and semi-finals should be less. In theory. But last year they were able to coast through, so it’s only in theory. But this year I don’t think they will be able to do that and that’s why I think they’ll be caught out before the All-Ireland final.
Sid the squad Kerry had in 09 compared to now is incomparable. Mike McCarthy, Tom o Sullivan, Tommy Walsh, tadgh kenneally, TOmmy Griffen (for all his limitations he was a hard man who is better than what is there now) and of course Daragh O’ Se all gone. Donaghy not the player he was then, neither of the O’Se’s as good as they were. only gooch is the same threat, Sheehan is definitely a better player as is Darren o Sullivan. but other than that you have an injury prone GAlvin to carry them.
The next 2 years are the best chances the 2nd tier counties will have if winning Sam. Kildare, Mayo and Donegal have a big chance IMO. It’s likely with the players available in the counties Cork and Dublin will win a few of the next few All-Ireland’s but Dublins hunger and Corks half back line could be stumbling blocks this year and if either Di manage to win it this year I think it may well rule them out the following year. Counihans limited on the day tactical nous could undo Cork against a Mayo, Donegal or Kildare. I think Kerry will just not beat 2 or 3 of the 5 teams mentioned above in an All Ireland series, they might get one, but no more.
It may well be only a matter of time before we see Galway back in the mix as well, which would be very welcomed.
You want to sack your best ever manager because you drew a match

Best ever manager.
Of course. JJ Barrett. I should have remembered.
Well done kev, I think ( in your mind of course ) you’ve managed to categorise Kerry’s perennial bitches “cork” as a tier 1 football county
In fairness, I’ve pretty much deduced your a WUM, from Kerry , but it still reads pretty funny even knowing that
I would think the all Ireland winners of 2010 and 3 in a row league winners would be tier one alright. Along with the other most recent winners, Dublin and Kerry. Tyrone have dropped out of that category after 3 poor seasons. I expect Kerry to drop out soon as well.
Pssst, hint to kev, tier one counties never know or count how many leagues they’ve win
The notion that the current Cork team could be thought of as anything other than Tier 1 (however you wish to classify that) is ludicrous given their record over the last 3-4 years.
Didnt you say before the Meath defeat last year that Galway football was gone ‘for years’? :o
Ya I did, until they came up witha superb u21 team and management with a lot of patticuarly young players. Still a couple of years off ad Michael means poor health may be a stumbling block. But things can change kib, they won’t win an all Ireland for a while, but they’ll become a force.
Isn’t the u21 football final on early in the year?
Mikey Meehan needs to pack it in for the good of his health, simple as.
Eamon Fennell DJing on Phantom FM at Forbidden Fruit festival about to interview Wilco after the news.
He was interviewing Bernard Brogan and Paul Flynn there earlier. “So how did you get on yesterday lads?” “You were there Eamon. You played. Have you forgotten about it?”
Sligo Team v Galway
Two changes on that team from the one which started v New Yory is that Eugene Mullen is in for Tony Taylor and Johnny Martyn comes in at full-back in place of Noel McGuire . No sign of the deadly corner forward David Kelly or Eamonn O’Hara
1 Philip Greene St.John’s
2 Neil Ewing Drumcliffe/Rosses Point
3 Johnny Martyn St.Mary’s
4 Ross Donovan Eastern Harps (Capt)
5 Charles Harrison St.John’s
6 Mark Quinn St. Molaise Gaels
7 Paul McGovern Eastern Harps
8 Shane McManus Geevagh
9 Eugene Mullen Easkey
10 Brendan Egan Tourlestrane
11 Pat Hughes Geevagh
12 Alan Costello Coolera/Strandhill
13 Stephen Coen St.Mary’s
14 Adrian Marren Curry
15 Mark Breheny St.Mary’s
Galway are unchanged from Roscommon which leaves Meehan and Joyce on the bench. More of the same from the last day would be just lovely but Sligo have been going well in challenge games and should provide a much more dogged resistence than the Rossies paltry efforts. Still would be very disappointing if Galway cannot prevail here after the form they’ve been showing this year.
